Eplfan2011 Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 Not scroll saw related but I thought I'd share. Just finished up this project. I'm a radio amateur, general class and nowdays you don't have to learn Morse code to obtain your licence. That said I've been procrastinating for the past few years that I was going to learn. To help me along I've just finished soldering up and assembling this little Morse trainer. It comes as a kit, circuit board components and hardware . Dan, JackJones and bobscroll 3 Quote
ChelCass Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 Amateur Radio operator aka Ham Radio Operator back in the days when my brother started. He has talked to people all over the world. I found it fascinating but could never learn morse code. He has been a operator since 1960's. A ex-boyfriend was also a ARO. It is so interesting to talk to people on the other side of the world. Great hobby! OCtoolguy, danny and Eplfan2011 3 Quote

Dan Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 Hey Colin, there are several hams here. I got my ticket in 2016 (Technician) and General I. 2017. On the air most every day. I also want to learn cw but will wait until retirement. Only real build is the wire dipole I still use today. Started digital mode (FT8) recently and do a lot of POTA hunting and activating. Hope to catch you on the air some day. Or maybe already did. 73, OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Gonzo, we are grown men who spend to much money on over priced radios Radio Hams take tests to be qualified to transmit on various bands, mainly HF,VHF,UHF but there are others, we use voice, CW and data modes to do this. A lot of us make stuff to use in our hobbies including radios and antennas. There are so many different ways to participate in the hobby it would be impossible to list them all, we usually find a niche we enjoy and expand our knowledge from there. danny 1 Quote
