  1. FrankEV sorry here are some more details This one was cut on reclaimed maple planed down to about 7/16", the panel is about 8x12 but will be cut down some. There's no backer and I'm not sure yet if there will be. I'm planning to stain it.
  2. I had to revisit this cut and this time cut it out of a piece of real wood.
  3. Thanks Dick that's very nice of you to say, it's you and many others that inspire me !
  4. Thanks Sycamore67! It's a Newer Steve Good pattern.
  5. Jerry, I'm pretty new at this and I totally agree with you with the amount of talent on show here. It's a double edged sword always encouraging me to try to raise my standards. Don't take my complaints the wrong way, I really am enjoying my scrollsaw journey, but like anything else practice is required. I'm making silly mistakes and need to slow down and work on my accuracy.
  6. Rafairchild2, thanks! That's my plan actually I've only got a few pieces of this 1/4 BB left and next time I'll try and find some better quality stuff. I've got some hardwood in the garage that needs planing up but I've yet to get round to it
  7. Steve good Christmas tree. Back to basics trying to improve my basic skills, straight lines, smooth curves, sharp points and stuff like that. I've been cutting a lot of fretwork stuff and it's easier to hide your mistakes in the abstract arrangement of holes. I've had a lot of people asking me for Christmas stuff (including her who must be obeyed ) so I'm going to take the opportunity to try to improve this part of my skillset. I'm not happy with this cut but it will paint up ok....practice practice practice
  8. As the title says another fun H Botas pattern, I may try to color this one too. My wife is a RN so I thought it was fitting. A fun cut.
  9. Welcome to SSV from Illinois FYI I'm originally from the Midlands now living in the US.
  10. Scrappile, thanks!! I may have to go to my room too!
  11. Thanks Wichman, Lazy me didn't think to do a reverse image search, thanks for clearing that up!!
  12. Not sure what I think about this? Colors are what I have, so..... Water color may have been better but I only had acrylic. Still have a backer to make, it's just black card behind there right now. With all the delamination I figured it couldn't be any worse
  13. Welcome to SSV from Illinois, it's a great place to relax! I have great memories of Wales, I spent most of my childhood holidays there... I'm a Brit now living in the States .
  14. Thanks Marg!
  15. Thanks I did think about painting it, I do have some acrylic that paints similar to water color. I've been wanting to try it out after I saw your tractor cutting 6 months ago, but summer happened ! I bought the BB sight unseen from Amazon. It was advertised as grade A BB but it has a very thin face layer, unfortunately that's the problem but I've found no voids.
  16. Thanks Ray
  17. This was something I started earlier in the year before I stopped for the summer. Unfortunately I can't credit the designer as my old computer died and I don't have the files anymore. There's lots of delamination happening and I kind of struggled with this a lot since starting and have to blame the poor quality batch of BB I bought, there's not a lot left and I'll be looking for a new supplier to buy another batch from soon that said it is what it is. There wasn't a lot left to cut so I decided to finish it off. I don't know if it's worth trying to sand it and clean it up a bit but Ill throw it on the finishing pile.
  18. I haven't been here for a while, the good weather is drawing to a end and we will be stuck inside soon here in IL. Im still seeing familiar names here so that's a blessing. As many may remember I started scrolling this time last year but took the summer off for my other hobby, today I went to the work shop and blew the dust off the saws and started cutting a pretty simple Steve good cut ..... boy am I rusty! Figured I'd just be able to pick up where I left off 6 months ago ... oh well at least the learning curve won't be as bad this time round Look forward to seeing what works if art you guys have been making and it's good to be back!
  19. We are a red tractor family Very nice cut, looks great!
  20. I always secure the blade in the top clamp, drop it through and secure the bottom one (it doesn't take but a second to align the blade in the bottom clamp) then I'll undo the top clamp and bottom feed ..... I don't undo the bottom clamp again till I change blades. I've tried top feeding but ..... I guess I'm so used to bottom feeding .....
  21. Same saw ...mine started slipping. They seem to cut down any any vibration too.
  22. I'll echo what everyone else says, have them on my Delta and they work so much better!
  23. Nice to know it's not just me that does stuff like this JessL
  24. Thanks Jerry, my ah ha moment was trolling you tube and watching a video by Mytoya2 cutting a butterfly.
  25. Another choice, if I'm not pushed for space I'll drill man hole size holes that you don't have to struggle with, top or bottom feeding. I only use the real small bit when that's the only choice.
