Norm Fengstad Posted December 7, 2023 Report Posted December 7, 2023 I have dremel which is parked under a bench, when I used there was always dust in the switch most times I could blow air on it however often had to change the switch. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted December 8, 2023 Report Posted December 8, 2023 I had a Dremel 1800 back in the day.. I think I had to a power switch in it twice and on the second time I turned it on and taped a cut up latex glove over the switch area and left it on.. that was when I finally broke down and bought a foot switch.. Man.. I can't imagine running a saw without a foot switch now days.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Flowerflow Posted December 17, 2023 Author Report Posted December 17, 2023 Hey everyone!!! Thank you so much for replying We discovered that the On and off switch was not computing properly In some tests it would not work at all and in some other tests it was reading the off and on switch occasionally. We Jimmied on a old switch that we had laying around and it is back to perfect working condition. In addition I gave my friend thier scroll saw and got myself a used one off of kijiki so that if it breaks I'm not breaking all of my friends cool stuff ! My challenge now is that I break blades faster than I would like ! Thanks everyone OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Thanks everyone In the lower right hand area is an arrow showing where I started cutting, in the upper left an arrow showing where the blade broke ( it was worn out, I was expecting the break ), this was at the 25 minute mark, and this is typical for the cutting I do. 1/2" Elm laminated from 2, 1/4" Elm boards. Flowerflow Posted December 18, 2023 Author Report Posted December 18, 2023 Very coool. So your saying that potentially and theoretically a blade will break every 25 minutes? By the way that is awesome work it looks tight! !!! During all of that i was working on this snake playing hockey. With the names carved out below. I discovered that I was imagining the name was barff and its actually scarff. So I scrapped the letters. And will have to start again lol Oh cooky cooky fun life OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Nooo, I'm saying that with that blade, in that material I break a blade about every 30 minutes, Your mileage may vary, but it is a reference point. If, you are breaking a blade every 5 minutes there may be a problem, every 60 minutes, then you're doing pretty good. It's the same as how long it takes you to cut out a pattern, it's not a race, but we all want a reference point. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BadBob Posted December 18, 2023 Report Posted December 18, 2023 Blade breakage depends on too many factors to have a hard, fast rule. I rarely break blades. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
