We need more people like this in the world today.  Maybe not more I think most people are good, I think they do not get enough attention, only the idiots seem to get attention.  I guess that is because the good people do it from the heart, not to seek attention.

That's one of the reasons I posted this. :)

I seen this a couple weeks ago

BUT: did he really do the right thing? I mean she claims she had no idea.. however the last I had seen about her was that her shop is still full of trademarked stuff from many different artist etc.. so she's still doing wrong and Luke paid her to keep on doing it.. 😮 and I also read that she has had multiple violations and they remove her listings and she puts them back up.. Maybe it's all a bunch of gossip stuff that I heard so I don't know 100% that this is factual but if it is then Shame on her and Luke...

I get the fact that crafters including myself sometimes don't realize something is trademarked or whatever.. I've had Etsy and Amazon flag a couple things over the years and remove the listing.. I leave it removed and if anything similar I remove it too.. i do believe there should be warnings before just suing because a lot of us really don't realize that something is trademarked but when they leave them on or put them back up for sale that is a issue of greed and stealing property on purpose then..

Him doing this also might set a bad example to other crafters and now everyone going to be making luke holmes things because he don't care...I watch a interview of him saying that crafters should be able to make stuff.. and that their trademark is for bigger business making huge profits off his stuff.. I kind of agree with that but whos to decide the sale limit $$ amount before it's considered big money..

Hmm, This story broke on Tuesday of this week, so I'm not sure if we're even talking about the same lawsuit.

Generally I agree with everything that you're saying, and yes we collectively need a definitive set of rules for what is and is not allowed. There will always be cheaters and those who will test the limits.

At the big craft show I attended, as a consumer, I saw several "tumbler" booths whose products were sketchy at best, and one with stickers that were obviously out of compliance (Disney, etc) At another recent craft fair the organizer asked if I would make Disney themed items for her ( she was not joking ) so even the event promoters don't take the rules seriously.  What a mess.

I don't remember exactly when I seen the info but it was directly from Luke Combs page..  Yes the last show I went to was full of grinch and other stuff that I was kind of shocked. This is one thing I'll say about the scroll saw / handmade community vrs. laser forums.. Seems like the scroll saw community does fairly well with talking about this stuff and somewhat educating scrollers... However on the forums for laser and cnc stuff they just copy whatever they find on the internet to copy.. well not all of them but there's a lot of them posting and making /sharing files etc.. and if someone mentions trademark etc.. they get all defensive and say it's on the internet so it's free to use etc.. Though there's been some lawsuits now and they are starting to learn I guess.. LOL Laser and CNC has become more popular recently and lots of maybe newer younger people than that of the scroll saw community so they aren't well educated on this stuff, LOL

Well maybe it was only a couple days ago.. gosh seems like it was a while ago I seen it but this is what I seen first.. then I seen other info about it shortly after..
