wdkits1 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Hi Everyone Has been a while since I've posted any new intarsia. Here is a photo of my newest piece titled "Eagles Realm". It sits in a 16" x20" cherry frame with purpleheart accents and has 175 pieces from 17 different woods. This was a very challenging project to design but was fun to create.Woods used—Walnut, Holly, Spalted Beech, Spalted Sycamore, Yellowheart, Ebony, Fishtail Oak, Poplar, Lignum Vitae, Purpleheart, Afromosia, Vera wood, Peruvian Walnut, Tulipwood, Maple, Bloodwood, Pink Ivory. Fun project. Quote

Helenm2807 Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Wow! How did you do the detail on the feathers? H. Quote
wdkits1 Posted May 24, 2012 Author Report Posted May 24, 2012 Thanks everyone for the comments. To Helen---I use a dremel tool with a 5/64" high speed cutter to carve the detail into the feathers and use the edge of a 1/2" sanding drum to do the texturing on the eagle's body and the hill sides.
