Kris Martinson Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 Does anyone know a good method to transfer text onto wood? I don't want to scroll cut or woodburn the text onto my picture. I'm looking for a way to transfer the ink directly onto the wood. Quote
ChelCass Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 Have you checked YouTube for a video? I see there are some so maybe this will help. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 Agree, I have seen color pictures transferred to wood so I would assume script could. Maybe this: https://petapixel.com/2014/04/29/simple-technique-allows-image-transfer-wood-using-inkjet-printer/ OCtoolguy and New Guy 2 Quote
Bo Liljeborn Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 Use a print out from a Laser or Ink jet printer and reverse the text (very important) and take some Mod podge and coat the wood and the printout apply print on wood, let dry 24 h and then take a damp cloth and rub the paper of and the image will stay on the wood. Protect the image with some clear lacquer or other protecting finishes. Where is hundreds of videos on the topic on YT look and tray. Scrappile, Kris Martinson, OCtoolguy and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Randyw81 Posted February 18, 2024 Report Posted February 18, 2024 I have a woodburning pencil with interchangeable tips. It has a round heat transfer tip that I use to transfer text. I reverse the text and print it on a laser printer. Place it on the wood and rub the transfer tip over the paper. It takes a little practice to get the heat right. I attached a picture of my setup if that helps. Kris Martinson and Dave Monk 1 1 Quote
Dan Posted February 18, 2024 Report Posted February 18, 2024 If I remember correctly, our own @Travis made a video on transferring the ink to wood. Maybe check the resource tab. Kris Martinson 1 Quote

Travis Posted February 20, 2024 Report Posted February 20, 2024 This has a section on laser transfer. I had so-so results. But I know others who had good success. Kris Martinson and planeur 2 Quote
Kris Martinson Posted February 25, 2024 Author Report Posted February 25, 2024 I ended up using a glossy sheet of paper with the text I wanted printed on it in mirror image. Then I carefully positioned it onto the wood, secured it with tape and then rubbed it onto the wood. It worked out pretty well. Wichman and Scrappile 1 1 Quote
