My Pelican

Here is my Pelican.  Woods used; Maple, Butternut, Cherry,  reclaimed Elm, Teak, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Walnut.   Mounted on masonite.  Bordered with cotton rope that was stiffened and molded by using a corn starch mix.

Very well done!  Intarsia is my favorite form of scroll work, as it allows for our own vision of what the end result should look like! 

The rope is a nice touch.

That looks great.  If you don’t mind me asking what do use to smooth the edges?  What type of sander or do you do it by hand?

I start sanding with this.  https://store.workshopsupply.com/catalogue/flex-drum-sander-kit-p-4539.html.  Then, depending on what I am doing it is either rotary tool sanding or just to hand sanding.
