Scrappile Posted September 29, 2024 Report Posted September 29, 2024 I was just looking at pictures and reading news on the current hurricane. I hope the affected are okay. Please check in if you can, and let us know! I cannot imagine going through something like this. barb.j.enders, kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy 3 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 Unfortunately there is another tropical storm that according to the computer models might be taking the exact same path with a possibility of a category 2-3 hurricane for next week.. Hopefully by then it changes coarse or fizzles out. @BadBob I think is in Florida ( not sure where ) but I see he has been posting on here so he must have weathered the storm okay. My brother lives in New Port Richey.. I haven't talked with him yet but I believe I've seen him posting on his FB page but haven't said anything about damage etc. I have a friend that her mom had a winter home in Punta Gorda and it flooded her house. I've heard lots of flooding up onto North Carolina and I know there are some on here from there.. hopefully they're all okay. I couldn't live in those hurricane areas.. I'll take my snowstorms anyday over those storms OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Roberta Moreton Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 I haven’t heard from Scott. He IS in the north of the state. I am waiting to hear back from him. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Scrappile Posted September 30, 2024 Author Report Posted September 30, 2024 I spoke on the phone with Bernd Munzenmayer, (munzieb) He is okay, but sketchy internet and power right now. OCtoolguy, Wichman, ChelCass and 2 others 2 3 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 I think Scott ( Iggy ) is in North Carolina too but he doesn't get on here much anymore, I haven't checked in on his FB puzzle page in a long time so don't know how active he is on there anymore either. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BadBob Posted October 1, 2024 Report Posted October 1, 2024 I lived through another one—my house was not damaged. However, a huge tree fell across the street from my home and took out all the power for several days. My daughter was closer to the eye wall and was without power until Sunday after noon. I've seen much worse. I'm in Tallahassee, Florida Scrappile, barb.j.enders and OCtoolguy 2 1 Quote
flarud Posted October 7, 2024 Report Posted October 7, 2024 No issues on my side of the state. But Hurricane Milton might have other plans for us! It is expected to come right across my area as it exits the state. I changed the oil in both generators, installed the hurricane panels, and have plenty of gas and water. I'm about an hour south of Asheville but missed the worst of the storm. Some branches down and one neighbor had a tree hit his house. We did have alot of rain and wind but when it hit the mountains north of here it just dumped all the water into all the valleys. Lake Lure and Chimney Rock was a favorite spot for us. The hotel on lake Lure was where they filmed several scenes for "Dirty Dancing" and they had great cars shows along the lake. Climbed the stairs up Chimney Rock several times and the views were amazing. We had power out for a little over a day but the biggest frustration was not having the internet. Could not find out what was going on. When the power came back, I was able to cast from my phone to the Smart TV and was able to watch Youtube TV via the 5G on my phone. It's amazing how addicted we are to the Internet. Considering a whole house generator. (we have NatGas, good for the range and water heater) Word is Genrac is currently out of stock because of the recent storms. OCtoolguy, Roberta Moreton, Dan and 1 other 3 1 Quote
flarud Posted October 17, 2024 Report Posted October 17, 2024 For Milton, we lost power for about 48 hours and internet for a bit longer than that. No damage to the house or property. We ran both generators which allows us to run the entire house. We survived another one! OCtoolguy and Scrappile 2 Quote
