kmmcrafts Posted October 17, 2024 Report Posted October 17, 2024 (edited) For making my own laser designs I'm trying to figure out how to connect text to a circle.. I thought there used to be a "weld" option? or something like that.. but that may be memory from back when I had corel draw.. I never bother to do this with scroll saw patterns because I just knew where I would scroll to the edge of the circle and stop or turn etc.. Laser will cut anything that is red colored so I need to learn how to not cut the text out of the circle.. want it connected to the inner circle.. Hope I make sense of what I'm asking. Below is a circle that just says text as a sample that I was just playing around.. In this example the laser would cut out anything red so even the individual text would be cut out separate and even overlap where they connect.. That's probably just the font I used and no need to figure that out just yet.. mainly looking how to connect the two T's to the circle.. I'll worry about the font later. don in brooklin on Posted October 17, 2024 Report Posted October 17, 2024 I got a little confused but that is not hard to do anymore. This is my thoughts and attempt. You have 2 circles in your svg. I took is apart till I had the outer circle (4inches) and the inner circle (3.75}. moved the text away, \ Selected both circles and path->difference This gives you a ring. Moved text back in position in ring Select ring and text and Path->union If that is not what you are looking for please let me know. The inner part of circle is not grey but does that matter. kmmcrafts Posted October 18, 2024 Author Report Posted October 18, 2024 Took me a few minutes to figure it out but I kept trying different things with the suggested path options you gave and I figured it out.. Thank you so much, I've toyed on and off with trying to figure this out over the course of about a year.. I finally gave up and asked.. should have asked a long time ago, LOL I changed the text to prove I did it, LOL Text Ornament 1.svg Quote
don in brooklin on Posted October 18, 2024 Report Posted October 18, 2024 Well done. I see what you did by using the path-.difference on the inner circle. Never done that but you learn a new thing with Inkscape every day. Thanks Quote
