I always wanted one of these. I hate getting out a knife and cutting board for a few slices of cheese. 

Walnut, maple, and mahogany. The maple and mahogany were in the scrap pile. Finished with Howard Butcher Block Conditioner. Basically mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax. The slicer mechanism is from Rockler. It works well.

Very nice! I received one for Christmas last year and have yet to make it.

Did you use a 1/4” aircraft bit to drill the deep hole? And may I ask what are the dimensions?

It's 3/4" x 7" x10" and the hole was whatever the directions called for, looks like 1/4".

There are instructions are below.

The drill is hole is long and I had to buy a drill 11 inches by 1/4.  I also built a jig so you start the drill straight on a drill press and then finish with the long on.
