Scrappile Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 Welcome back. Maybe consider looking at used saws. Might get a better saw for less. Don't mean that to sound like there is anything wrong with a DeWalt, but were I live there nice Hawk for less than a New DeWalt. My first DeWalt was a refurbished one, got it for like $289. Never had any problems with it. Quote
Hawk Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 Welcome back!!! I would recommend either looking for a used Hawk, I picked up a real nice one for $250. Harbor Freight has a 22 inch for about $279. I got one of them a few months back. Real good saw for the price. Which ever one you choose, You'll be happy to return!! Good luck. Quote

JimNC Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 I just got back into scrolling about 2-3 years ago. I had and older HF that I purchased about 10 years before but knew that I needed a smother operating and pinless saw to improve my choice of available blades. I went to a woodworkers show and tried a few up scale saws but didn't want to break the bank. I purchased a Wen LL215, 21 inch I think they still sell for about $375. I am very happy with that sa and no problems. But even since then there are a a lot of lower priced saws have come to market. PS i'm 81 now!. Quote
Wooden Lace Posted Sunday at 06:55 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:55 PM Welcome back! I have 2 DeWalts that are over 20 years old now. They are so old that they were made in Canada by Sommerville! I use them up to 6 hours a day. Price at Home Depot and Amazon is $399, which is hundreds less than it was a while back. I used to have a 16" Excalibur that I foolishly sold. Now the company that makes those calls it King, and the one actually labeled Excalibur is a different company altogether. I tried a Hegner, but didn't like the blade change or the tiny table. Quote
