  1. I just need good gooseneck bench light. I can see ok with prescription reading glasses. I just can't get use to a magnification of any kind (just me). I had have a OK light/magnifier and found that I used the light only and used the magnifier for looking at details. The light LED stopped working so I think I will look for a good light instead, no magnifier. I do use magnetic sewing machine lights but they sometimes get in the way.
  2. Tony please post on some pictures if you can. Many years back we went to a outdoor art show there and really enjoyed that. If it wasn't 600 miles away I would drop by. LOL
  3. Very nice Don.
  4. Welcome Tony, Our daughter and her family live a farm in Forestville, NY. My wife is from Buffalo and we live in Randleman, NC. This is a great group.
  5. Beautiful work Barb. My wife and I too donate most of our work to non profits. In fact we now make two of just about everything we make. We donate to our local non profits to sell in their gift shops and/or fundraisers. We make at least two is because we get referrals which so share $$ with them. Great advertising, does some good, and saves us selling a craft shows.
  6. I use 77 on the pattern paper but before applying on the masking tape and found it pull away so I take some 400 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the tape. I think the better masking has a coating to prevent leaking through. I wipe away any grit left behind from the sanding. I don't have the pull away on the cheap tape.
  7. I have tried every kind of mask and/or respirator on the market other than a self contained system. The bottom line is; I just don't like them. So I try to do as much dust creating work outside with a floor standing fan at my back and a EZ Mask. As for the scroll sawing I do use a RZ Mask only because I need the lighting for my work.
  8. Nice display, good work. We too live in a small town, 25,000 pop. city, 125,000 total county and a $300 show is about average for us. We just moved here 5 yrs. ago.
  9. I didn't tell you at the time they were about $12 so that may of helped the sales too.
  10. Nice job on both. Good idea, will catch people attention as they walk or drive by. Maybe you will get the contract to do the whole street!!
  11. I talked with a manage at a Harbor Freight Store and he said HF corp. said that they estimate 80% of the their mini tool boxes were sold to women or purchased for women.
  12. I too have the stick. Took awhile to figure out the "search" part but once I did master it worked great. Lots of patterns there. I would advise anyone who does have one to get one.
  13. Dick, If you would like, just post more of your work and I will pass them off to my wife. WARNING! She is very critical at times.....she hates all of my work. LOL
  14. You did a great job. My wife is a professional artist/teacher and taught at Wake Forest University for many years. I showed your work to her and she was impressed she said "wonderful" which is a 9 out 0f 10 in her speak.
  15. I know this subject has been brought up many times, but I believe I have a new perspective to share. I apply masking tape to my wood and spray glue back of the the pattern then apply the pattern to the wood. Well, many times as I start my cutting the pattern has started to curl around the edges. So now before applying the glued-up pattern, I used 300-400 grit sandpaper on the tape. This just takes seconds, but the pattern stays in place a lot better. Seems like the higher priced tape is coated and doesn’t like the glue. I have used clear packing tape, but the LED lights in my shop reflects off it and bother my old eyes.
  16. I tried them all but the best FOR ME are strong, quality, reading glasses and sewing machine led lights. I have several sets of each at eachat my "work stations". So, with that said, the best set up is what works for you.
  17. Steve's Scrollsaw Workshop is primarily supported by donations. I sent a small donation this morning to show Steve my appreciation. In the past I have used his plans and have purchased his Memory Sticks and/or donations.
  18. The hands free feature is what I like and the base looks steady maybe use a couple of screws to hold down. But the price $114? Not sure how often I would use. GreggA is right "Great little setup".
  19. I like the features of this tool set up for my toy making. So what rotary tool are you using in this set up? I have several Dremel rotary tools, will they work with this set up?
  20. Beautiful. Did you make make the frame too?
  21. I too don't mind paying for a good clip art and/or pattern, in fact I have purchased a few on etsy. I don't even like buying a scroll saw pattern books unless I know for sure the issue has the pattern that I would like.
  22. Some sites whit "free clip art" require that you download a pdf editor but may or may not be free.
  23. Welcome Archer.
