Chip Woods Posted December 1, 2025 Report Posted December 1, 2025 Hey all. Im a retired woodworker, from home building to furniture and boats. Bored to tears, i joked about making birdhouses and whirligigs. So i found a mint hawk saw, i think an original version. Nothing fancy but so much better than the old cast iron Rockwell i found 30 yrs ago. But Ive found scrollsawing isnt as easy as i thought it would be. Heck of a learning curve just to get the blade in right. Who would have thought… Chip Woods Quote

Scrappile Posted December 3, 2025 Report Posted December 3, 2025 Welcome to the village! Building boats has always been my dream. I did build a skin-over-frame kayak. It was great fun to build, but my back would not take the sitting position. I have the hull and running gear built and for a little 12' sailboat sitting in my garage. All I need to finish is to build the mast and sails. Afraid, I will not get it done. Hopefully someone will want to finish it up. Have had plans for several others, but life kept getting in the way. Now I am just plan too old! But scrolling keeps me satisfied now and very enjoyable for me. You are correct, figuring out the blades was the most difficult for me. I just kept trying different ones until I settled on about 5 variations I like and work best for me. Quote
