keefie Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 I make a lot of these as they seem to sell quite well at the craft fairs, this one is made from English Yew. It had a piece of barbed wire embedded in the wood where the tree had grown around a fence. The Iron in the wire had turned the wood that purple colour and also took the edge of my gouge when I found it in there. Hope you like it. Keefie. bobscroll, Fab4 and Huntter2022 3 Quote

Phantom Scroller Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Very nice Keith where do you buy the lamp inserts from? Roly Quote
multitom Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Keith, beautifully done, love the wood:-) Quote
keefie Posted July 13, 2013 Author Report Posted July 13, 2013 Huntter, The oil resevoir is beneath the wick burner and is inset into the top section of the lamp, The wick section unscrews to fill the resevoir. It holds enough oil to burn for approx three and a half hours (but I have used one for five hours on a lower flame) Roly, I got my lamp parts originally from Craft Supplies, but I'm not sure, but I think they might be going out of buisiness. My other supplier is Stiles and Bates, they are awaiting a supply of them to come in. Mahendra, Yes it's beautifull wood and to get a piece with the reddish purple colour in it was pure luck as you don't find that much. Keefie. Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
ChelCass Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Wow that is beautiful Keefie. The wood colors really set it off. Thanks for sharing. Quote

Clayton717 Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 that looks great. the wood looks similar to what I was told was juniper here in the US. I had a couple pieces of it that I turned a couple things out of and I had a little purpleish color and about the same grain. Quote
