    Apology

In a recent post I referred to Paul (Fab4) as Rav4. Dang, I must have been thinking about Toyotas. See what old age does to a person? I hang my head in shame.

Fresh off the saw. I made these for my granddaughter. She loved playing with our fridge magnets so I thought I'd give her something for home. After the paint dries I'll put a few coats of poly on them. These are from Steve Good, I just changed the font and size. Here's a photo of Dixie at the "playground".

    23rd Psalm

I used a pattern from Wildwood Designs. The back is 1/4" maple plywood and the letters are walnut. I started with some rough cut walnut jointed one side and thickness planed it to a uniform thickness. I resawed it to a little over 8" and did the final thickening on the drum sander. I cut 3 layers to make 3 of the project. As some had suggested earlier I kept a journal of the time I spent cutting it, it was a total of 47 hours and 18 minutes not counting the time to prepare the wood or make the frame. They will have glass put into the frames and then I'll call it finished. I took the picture without glass so no glare would obscure the words.

  12. I made this 4 years ago from a cedar hope chest someone thru out 18" tall 5/8's thick.you should have seen my eye upon seeing it on the side of the road GOLD! I wanted to make something rare and desirable so i could buy a new dw788 or used doesn't matter Well in the mean time i aquired 9 more dw788's and still have the double star of David clock. It's very precious to me .My friend that has never had an additude problem, cursted me out or any bad thing is getting married Jan 15th.His wife to be is from Israel so this will be theirs as a wedding gift.I gave a can of satin spray minwax so he can get more or gloss from the big box store if he choses,And the name was supposed to be gray but i don't have ,it's for the er nurse so she said paint it so it will look good,so white base and red glitter paint and red glitter on top of that,

  15. Travis's tutorials are fantast. As slow as I learn it took a long time and lots of patients. If I run into a single thing that I am trying to do I will go to utube and search for it.

  16. I just tried this in Open Office and it works, however, the kerning is global and not individual characters. I'm just now experimenting with Inkscape. Rav4 got me off to a jump start. I'm viewing the tutorial on my tablet and following along on my PC. I think eventually I may just get the hang of it. Thanks for all the suggestions offered. Regards, Les

Congrats on taking the first step in selling . I have been selling for a while and a clean organised display really helps. Greet your potential customers with a smile and hello. And don't be afraid to answer any questions they may have. Vista print seems to be the way most people go, I use a local printing house. The wife and I like to support local small businesses though. As was stated, with Christmas coming up somethings in the spirit of the Holiday should help a lot. Best of luck and please keep us posted.

  30. Hi Perry Open Office is no different than all the other programs There is a learning curve and once you straighten out that curve, it's actually fun Everyone has their favorite program(s), you choose one, learn it and go from there The BEST PART of all this is no matter what program you choose if you're stuck on something there is always a Villager or two, or three, or four who are willing to help out All we have to do is ask Fab4

  33. I agree with Ray.. Unless your saw is making some very loud noises.. I'd just take it apart and grease it up.. I run my saw a lot.. and I have the original bearings in the back end of the saw.. When the saw was about 2-3 years old I started getting a slight noise from it and was getting some blade vibration.. I watch the said videos. took my saw completely apart.. while I did have some minor wear on the back bigger bearing & bushing.. I just cleaned it up and added the synthetic grease.. that was back in 2012.. back part of the saw has not been touched since.. I did end up needing new bearings and sleeves on the front portion of the saw.. while only two of the bearings and bushings was really the only bad ones with a couple others with minor wear.. I just replaced them all since I had to take the bearings to the local bearing shop so I could match them up.. I have all the pieces needed to do a full rebuild this time.. as it needs it now.. but this is a 2008 saw.. I had it apart on 2012.. and just now getting noisy again.. ( mostly from the back of the saw ) where there was some minor wear.. had I had the parts on hand back when i had the back of the saw opened up.. I'd have replaced those.. but I needed to use it asap.. so I just cleaned it up and greased it.. been running since.. I'm thinking when I take mine apart after the holidays.. I'll only need to replace the back portion of the saw and just clean / grease the front.. noise is coming from the back..

I have used vista prints for printing business cards. They usually have a deal where 500 cards are about 20 bucks. You can use their online card designer or upload your own image. I would create a social network page of your choosing and put it on the card. Since you are new at this I would start with making things that interest you. If you stack cut, you can increase your production. your lamps are beautiful. I would think they would sell well. Maybe make a Christmas/holiday versions
