OK I think I saved it

This is the plaque I dropped and broke yesterday. If you look really closely you can see the break but in general I think I got away with it. I will sell this one a little cheaper and explain it has been repaired. Rimu from the side panel of a drawer box finished with tung oil and beeswax. Thanks for looking. Rob

    The Lord's Prayer

Greetings, Two done and I plan on making two more. The pattern is from BerryBasket but, I modified it from the Catholic version with our debts to the Protestant version with our trespasses. I also had to modify the sides due to the added lines of text required. Approximately 35 hours total but, that includes gluing up patterns for the framework of the next two. I already have all the wording cut. All 1/4" Baltic Birch cut with an 18" Craftsman scrollsaw. Embellishments stained Colonial Maple and the backer stained Early American. Approximately 22"W x 28"L. God Bless! Spirithorse

  3. Olive Wood Cross for friend. Ampersand iPad Holder (Cherry on either side of Padauk) for another friend. And Chuck the Beaver for Chuck's Custom Cabinets in my town, who generously called my husband to pick up some cut offs. Twas the least I could do, to give them back a piece of their wood.

    Lovely Cats Pattern

I posted the Lovely Cats coin some time back and promised to post the pattern . . . . . and almost forgot . . . Here it is. I suggest cutting on an Eisenhower, but it is possible to cut on the Kennedy, but those whiskers are very tricky at that size. Pic of coin below is on Kennedy, cut on the Dewalt. Just click on the link below the picture to download the pdf pattern. If you cut on a Kennedy, then print at 100% on a Eisenhower 124.5%. Or you can blow it way up and cut in wood. LovelyCats.pdf

    Making bracelets

Some time ago several posters asked if I could post a how to our tutorial of making bracelets. I will try to start that process as u wait in line for Costco gasoline.... The one I will show you is an end grain bracelet as it has the most steps. Gather your wood that you want as end grain components.

  8. I'm getting back into the social aspect of scrolling after an 8+ year hiatus. I used to be a very active contributor on a host of scroll saw boards and forums, including designing custom patterns for other users, offering Intarsia lessons (which had an honorary mention in Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts magazine), and being an all-around dork. Some of you seasoned scrollers may remember me from those days. Hope to see some old faces and meet new ones, as well as share and learn with you all.

    One of my latest

I have not posted anything new in a long time. Been busy with life stuff, but I have been scrolling. Here is a gift for a friend made with 1/2" thick Oak and finished with a mix of BLO, MS, and poly. Cut with FD-UR #5 blades.

    Making bracelets

Thanks folks, Once the pattern if traced onto the blank cut it out on the scroll saw, go slow if the wood is hard or has many Spieces. If you push it will bend the blade and deform the bracelet. When you have it cut out the blank looks like so, I then use these blanks to make smaller sizes, same process of tracing... You then have rough cut bracelet.

  14. I want to apologize to the designers here. When I posted this my mind sat was on PAID patterns. Although the one I was cutting from Karl Taylor was free. I totally respect and appreciate those that take the tie and efforts to help the other villagers and share their skills here. So with said I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. I assure you it was not intentional. Please accept this apology.

  15. Yes I agree, cannot go past our very own Village pattern designers, who do not have to do what they do and freely. Marg

    New to the forum

Good day all, I am long retired from teaching special education for thirty-eight years and living in Michigan most of my life. I'm brand new to scrolling but have been a woodworker for years. I have a DW788 on the way along with a couple books to get me started. I'm one of those who have a lot of interests. I've long been into drawing and painting and music. I am presently building a Hammered Dulcimer, so I'll be able to make my own rosettes with the scroll saw. A lot of other things, too, I hope. I'm glad to have found this forum. The work I've seen here is amazing. You are a very talented group of artists and I'm looking forward to getting acquainted and learning from your expertise. Bill

    Making bracelets

Here a some pics of the bracelets I have made learning this process. 44 here about 10 others I have made scattered around some place. Three additional broke in the making process, two broke by wearing and both times as a result of getting caught on the opening of my pant pocket and me pulling my hand out quickly. They are very durable as I have been wearing them daily for about 7 months. The corian white one was a trial, turned out nice, made another and can't find it.

  29. If you are quoting me Kevin I never checked any numbers just saw all the different saw types that delta ever made. I looked at his no. and blade holder and it says obsolete. So disregard my link. but it is a great one if you ever need part diagrams for any delta saws. http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/delta-40-150-15-quot-scroll-saw.html

    Arrrghhh!!

I completely feel your pain... I have a display cabinet I've been trying to finish for 1 1/2 years, I keep knocking over the door which is mitered and it keeps coming apart. I glue it, set it and knock it - 5 times now. Next time it's fire wood!

    llamp shades

This is just a thought, you could find the right size from a thrift store. Take measurements of top diameter, bottom diameter, and height. Cut panels to fit around the shade. Cut deer prints and deer silhouettes on some panels. Glue rice paper to the inside of the panel. Remove the old fabric from the shade. Attach your panels to the shade. Not sure if it will work for you but if nothing else I hope I got the wheels spinning. Good luck.

  43. I really don't have a favourite and I am in awe of the many great designers whose patterns I have used. But, I will say the person with the most challenging patterns is Mike Williams. When I complete a piece that uses one of his patterns, I feel that I really have accomplished something.

  48. When I started this some 35 years ago the best designer that I followed and used soooooo many of his patterns and still do today was Rick Longabough and his wife Karen from the Berry Basket fame. The next would be Dan and Ray Wilckens designs and again still use many of their patterns and always loved their style. Next would be Karen and Dirk Boelman of the Art Factory. We lost 2 of the greatest pattern makers in Dirk and Ray over the years. Last would be John Nelson. I always liked his work and had the pleasure of working with him on a few projects. I have many patterns in my possession from various artists and some have been mentioned already but the top ones are my list.
