  1. Great tip! My Dad had the same problem (also craftsman 16"). I'll let him know. He got frustrated with it and made his own blower that hooks to the air compressor. I'll have to take a picture of it. Its rather humorous. Works great, thoug!
  2. LOL...had enough? If its really up for sale, feel free to put a classified ad up in the Hot Deals section. That's what that forum is there for.
  3. Hi JD. Welcome to the Village. Be sure to check out some of our wildife patterns in the Pattern Library. Lots of good stuff there. I'm not much of a hunter anymore, but I enjoy hitting the lake and doing some fishing. The weather's been aweful here lately, but it looks like it's clearing up a bit. So it won't be long before I hit the lake and see what I don't catch! Anyway, we'd love to see some of your work. Jump on in and have some fun!
  4. Hi Al. Welcome to the Village. I think you'll have a great time here. Lots of friendly folks here and several intarsians (is that the right term?) too. I just started my first intarsia project. I'm only at the cutting stage, but I'm having a great time with it. Anyway, we'd love to see some of your work! Its very inspiring to see what others are working on. Anyway, we're glad to have you on board. Jump in and have some fun!
  5. Hi jerrog. Welcome to the Village. I think you'll have a good time here. Lots of friendly and talented folks here. We'd love to see some of your work. You can set up a User Gallery (you can find a [tut]tutorial here[/tut]) to show off a little. Anyway, we're glad to have you on board. Jump in and have some fun!
  6. I'm just curious what everybody's working on? Do you have a project on the saw right now? Or are you regrouping for your next project? I'm hoping to finish off this Raven designed by Sue (Shadylady0447). Stack cutting 3 pieces (2 BB and 1 Oak). I have most of the small areas cut, so its just a matter of finishing off the large areas, then finish. I have a frame already picked out for it. I can't wait to get it done.
  7. Its much too hot outside to wear my winter clothes. I need to add to my summer wardrobe. I think we're in desperate need for some Scroll Saw Village t-shirts! So lets throw a T-Shirt design contest! Entry is easy. Just post your t-shirt idea in this thread. Cool illustrations, clever saying, or classy understatement...anything goes! The only thing that must be included is the words "Scroll Saw Village" and the URL http://www.scrollsawvillage.com. Mock it up in Inkscape or GIMP with your new found designing skills. Not an artist? No problem. Just scan in your hand-drawn doodle and you're in! (but you must submit an image to be eligible) The winner will receive a t-shirt with the winning design, perfect for those long summer days behind the saw. Enter as many times as you want. Entry is open to all Earth citizens (everybody is welcome to participate) We'll put all of the designs up for a secret vote on July 6th. Voting may take 2-3 weeks, depending on the number of submissions. OK. Here's the fine print. All submissions become the property of Scroll Saw Village. One or more non-winning submissions may make its way onto a t-shirt or other SSV swag. Elements from multiple entries may be combined to create SSV swag. Creating fake accounts to boost your odds or to manipulate voting will disqualify you and may get you banned (I can tell these things). Void where prohibited. Yada yada yada. Lets have some fun!
  8. Those turned out great! I really like those saw patterns. I bet they'd look great on a wall. Maybe even make a shaker peg wall hanger to display those saws. Very cool!
  9. Boy, those are neat! Steve's keychain maker program is awesome! Love the wood you chose too. I also really like that balloon pic. Very neat pattern. You did a great job on the cutting too! Nicely done!
  10. WOW. What an impressive start! This is a lot of fun! That clock is awesome, greasemonkey. I really like how you took a existing pattern and made it your own. Very impressive clock. The picture of the Duke is amazing, Ron. Very nice cutting! You've got to upload that to your User's Gallery! You can't get much more American than the Duke. Thanks for the God Bless America pattern, Linda! I think that will be a very popular one. Easy to cut and would make a great shelf sitter. I gotta get started on my pattern before I'm left in the dust!
  11. The spirals are really cool. I like using them on portrait style cuttings too. But if you prefer straight blades, I'd use the FD-SR #3 for your portrait. I've cut a lot of portraits using this. Gives you a smooth cut, and a tight turning radius and still be able to control the blade easily. I use #5's mostly for 3/4" or hard wood. You don't get as much of a tight turning radius, but it will chew through the wood pretty well. #5's are also nice when making long sweeping arcs and straight lines since the blade doesn't wander as much.
  12. Those turned out awesome, Linda! The wordart is awesome and the ribbons look like they're great gifts for you son's unit! Nicely done!
  13. Hi Robert. Welcome to the Village. I'm glad you found us. We have a few folks here from Scotland. I visited there a few years back and I really loved it. So beautiful country. I can't wait to go back. Too bad there's no market for designer firewood, because I'd be rich by now! Oh well. I would love to see some of your work. You can create a User Gallery (you can find a [tut]tutorial here[/tut]) and show off a little. Anyway, jump on in and have some fun!
  14. Well, July 4th is right around the corner! Fireworks, celebrations, and Old Glory flapping in the wind. Its time for another challenge! Entry is easy. Just post a cutting of a 4th of July or any other patriotic design in your User's Gallery and post a link in this thread! Fretwork, portraits of famous patriots, intarsia, or a bit of lawn art! Anything goes! For our friends outside the US, we'd love to see some national pride from you as well! This is your opportunity to get creative! H'bout pattern designers? Many of you have taken the GIMP class and have all of this untapped talent! Bust out your GIMP program and create a pattern to show off your new skills! Maybe a Eagle Pattern? Military art? H'bout some portraits of past presidents or other patriots? Just post your pattern to the Pattern Library and post a link here. Lets have some fun! Happy 4th Of July!
  15. That's great! I'd love to see the jig. I remember people use to cut out buffalo nickles. Those were always neat. Next time you decide to cut a coin, could you take some pictures and put together a mini-tutorial in the Works In Progress/Tutorials section? I think a lot of people would really get a kick out of that! I know I really haven't run across much info on that.
  16. It was bound to happen. Our little community is growing to the point where it's too much work for one person to maintain. I would like to welcome Chris (aka Messman) to our administration team. Chris has been helping behind the scenes to make SSV run smoothly. He's an avid scroller, a fantastic designer, and knowledgeable in tricky areas such as copyright issues. He'll be helping to moderate the forums, keep an eye out for suspect accounts, flag potential problems, remove spam, and other administrative duties. We're glad to have him on board. I think he'll make a great asset to our growing community. Welcome, Chris!
  17. Welcome back, Christina! It just wasn't the same without you!
  18. That turned out really cute. Does it have an owner in mind already? You really have a knack for those rockers. It won't be long before you have a full-fledged rocker business on your hands without even knowing it! Good job.
  19. Hi Donnie. Welcome to the Village. We're glad to have you on board. There are lots of friendly and talented folks here. I think you'll fit right in. I look forward to seeing some of your work (and patterns ) Jump on in and have some fun!
  20. That is awesome! That made me laugh. Great thinking. I love making toys. Such a thrill when you see kids playing with something you created. Nicely done!
  21. It would be so nice to really spread out. I love having lots of space to work in. I use to build sets and props for several theatre companies when I was in college. They had a nice large shop too, plus the stage if I needed extra space. I loved it. Maybe someday I'll get my shop back! My shop is pretty spread out right now. I have a 2 car garage that houses most of my large tools (table saw, band saw, drill press, etc). When we bought the house, my wife already knew there was no way she was going to be able to park in the garage! I also have a room in our basement where I do most of my scrolling and assembly. It stays warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Unfortunately, I like spending my summers on my patio watching the world go by. So this summer I decided to move my scroll saw outside. I love it. My son knows to stay away from it, I can watch him and get some scrolling done.
  22. Hi Ervin! Welcome to the Village. I think you'll have a great time here. Lots of friendly and talented folks here. Craft shows are somthing I've always wanted to try. They look like a lot of fun. You should take a couple of pix of your booth the next time you do a show. We love seeing booth layouts. I look forward to seeing some of your work, too. Anyway, jump on in and have some fun!
  23. Boy, that turned out really sharp! Good job! It's such a thrill to see one of your patterns cut. Thank you for showing us. Love the frame too. Really adds a lot of class to the cutting.
  24. That is really cool. Did you use a jewler's blade, or was it just a regular scroll saw blade? You did a nice job on it. I'd need a magnifier too. Nicely done!
  25. Travis

    new pics

Wow! That's awesome! I love the detail. The lettering looks like a lot of work, too. Is that your design? Beautiful none-the-less. Be sure to put a copy in your User's Gallery. Nicely done, Blame!
