  5. I use a damaged 1/8 in. acrylic plastic sheet that was 8" x 10". It was supposed to be used for the "glass" in a picture frame but the store cut it wrong and so I got it for next to nothing. I drilled a hole that was about 5mm in the center. When I go to use my plate I place it on the table and use 2 pieces of blue painters tape to hold it in place. It works fine for what I need it for. DW

  14. I have worked with corian in the past and used CA glue on that project as well. I cheated though with the finish I sanded to 1000 grit then applied gloss lacquer in light coats until I got the desired finish I was looking for. I used to do all that hand sanding on acrylic when I was in the military on some helicopter windscreens and it was a pita then and I imagine it still is now DW
  15. Ron that is some awesome work my friend. What did you use to glue the segments together with? And how fine a grit sanding did you do? DW
  16. Very nicely done on those Bobby. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW

  23. Marge that is an azalea bush. They belong to the rhododendron family and come in White,Red and a pinkish purple flower. They are a spring bloomer and the blossoms only last a couple of weeks. They can be quite stunning when in full bloom. You should be able to get them in your neck of the woods as both Hong Kong and Japan have festivals around these bushes. DW
  24. Excellently done, wonderful project. Thanks for sharing these with us. DW
  25. Dave try water based acrylic paint. You can get sample containers mixed to your color specification OR you can go to the craft stores and pick up the pint acrylic paint its water based, cleans up easy, no offensive odor and it dries fast. and most important is it takes a finish quite well without warping or other issues.
