  7. The pattern came from a guy in Romania here is a link to his site. The pattern is free - http://www.traforaj.ro By varying the thickness of the wood you can get everything from a pie pan to the basket that I made all from that one pattern. DW
  8. Ray I generally have many different projects going on at any one time so I seldom do one to completion before starting a new one. DW
  9. Cut from a glue up of alternating sapele and pine. The basket is 8 inches in diameter by 7 inches tall. The basket was sealed with tung oil then wipe on polyurethane. DW

  18. Almost all modern finishes are human safe after they have cured. You can put butcher block oil on it or tung oil or BLO or even just wax it the choice is yours of course. You could even use a bees wax with mineral oil finish. DW

  23. Len the bamboo is from a box of 10mm flooring that a neighbor gave me after she got done redoing her kitchen floor. Cutting bamboo is hard on blades luckily this particular pattern is not too rough on the blade. I cut one of those intersecting word art signs a little while back and had to use several blades to do it. They dull fairly fast. As for taking a finish, no problem if you seal the bamboo first. I generally use tung oil to seal then top coat. DW

  25. Cut from Bamboo ( end caps ), Birch ( dowels ), Pine and Mahogany ( Intarsia ). Finished with a wipe on Polyurethane. I am working on the plans for this to include the intarsia. DW
