  1. Thank you, thank you very much. I have had Neal's book a couple of years now and the bobcat was the reason I bought it. Just haven't had the time to start on it and was really wanting to see how someone did it. Now we have someone to ask questions. Thanks also for the tips about watching the pattern very close, and about elevating the pieces. You did a real nice job, very realistic. Fran

Nice patterns and cuttings. I do like western and native american art work. Fran
  3. Nice cutting and pattern. First time I have seen any patterns like this, what a nice change. Fran
  4. I have never used a blade chart or a speed chart for that matter. My first saw was a single speed, so that settled the speed thing, and couldn't use small blades with it, so that settled the size of blade I could use. Now it is mostly a "try it and see" approach for me. For intarsia I use FD polar blades mostly no. 5 and 3. For intricate fretwork sr 1 or 3. I have sawn 3/4" wood with a no. 1 with no problems along as they are FD blades. Of course, everyone has their prefernce to which and what brand of blade to use. Fran
  5. Congrats on the new saw, and wow all those blades. Now show us what you can do with it. Fran
  6. Thanks for any compliments directed at me. All I can say is practice, practice, ditto, ditto Really though, you have a talent that I don't, that is pattern making, I have tried it and it just don't work for me. But I do love the patterns that you great pattern makers do. Fran
  7. Well, I planned to make some gifts this year, if this darn heat will let up. But then I haven't really decided what to make and for who. Don't have that many people in my life, so will probably get er done when the weather cools off some. Fran
  8. I know what you mean about putting out that kind of money. When I needed a new saw back in 05, I considered the DeWalt, but they were just being made in China and had a lot of manufacturing issues. I also had my eye on the Ex 21, at a much higher price. One thing I liked about the Ex was the tilting arm for angled cuts. Long story short, I had just retired, so sold some test equipment I had and bought the Ex-21. It is a great machine, I never used a DeWalt, but am not sorry of my purchase. It has made me love woodworking so much more. Fran
  9. Great news indeed. Looks like you will be busy for a while Fran

  13. Nice cuttings Grandpa. Fran
  14. You did a great job on the pattern and the cutting. Fran
  15. I love it, Clayton. Is this your pattern? I know Robert H. has some patterns of guns, as I ordered all of them. Have made the pistols, but not the rifles yet. Was going to make some for the "gun nuts" in the family and friends. I really like the shaping you did, I may have to call on you for some help. Guns are not as easy as they look. Fran
  16. Really great work, Mike. Very pretty. Fran
  17. Congrats, Messman, I know you will make a good manager/moderator. Fran
  18. Nice cutting, Clayton Fran
  19. Steve, now that is some great work.. Beautiful animal portraits. I have Neal's book and have intended to try my luck at making a couple of them, but something else keeps getting in the way. lol The animals look so real. Fran
  20. Beautiful job, Blame, and the wood is outstanding. Fra
  21. That is fantastic, just beautiful. Fran
  22. Mike, I am so proud for you for getting the ribbons. Now this intarsia is something to really brag about. I have been to your website and wow, you do some fantastic work. Fran
  23. Travis, for zero clearance I use a piece of plexiglas or a piece of stiff plastic. You know the plastic that covers pies you buy. I also have one that was from the bottom of a bought cake plate. I agree the business cards are a little flimsy. Also, I like to cover a larger portion or the saw table than a business card would. I remember seeing a post on another board about some one who used a pane of glass with a hole drilled in it. When I can think of buying a glass drill I may try the glass. Fran Oh, you are going great on your project. And you got guts man,(LOL) to pick something with this many pieces for your first intarsia piece. My first piece was only about ten or fifteen pieces.
  24. Jeeze, Now that is a hard one. Probably be Judy Gale Roberts. No particular book, any of her intarsia books. Fran
  25. Have to be my drill press. Fran
