    Just me

I'm not too good at speaking, but here goes. Been a member here since Jan.11, and just getting up the courage to introduce my self. Been scrolling one thing or another since about 1988. Back then just things to paint. Saw was a single speed and blade changes or tensioning was a pain, so no real fretwork. Eventually got a better saw and did some fretwork, then started doing intarsia. Still do fretwork or anything that catches my eye. That is the thing that I like about this group, you can do a variety of work, even woodburning and it is ok. Glad to be a member Fran

Welcome to the group, Chef. Fran
  4. I too would love to see your work. And welcome to the group. I started out cutting simple shapes to paint. And that is good experience before attempting any intricate fretwork. Fran
  5. Welcome to the group, Muleskinner. Glad to have you here. Fran

Hi Mike, and welcome to the group. I have chatted with you on another group and glad you came here. You do such nice work, you will be a good asset to the group. Fran
  7. Very nice job on the carry case, Clayton. And the painting is really good. Fran
  8. I have not seen any in the stores, but have seen the flap sanders as Travis mentioned. I would like to know myself as I use my dremel with the drum sanders a lot in making intarsia. Of course I can't seem to find the 1/4" size drums anymore and I know that they make them, or they did. Fran
  9. Very nice cutting, Travis. And a cute pattern. Fran
  10. I don't have a sweetie, but do have friends on the groups, so let me say Happy V.Day to you and every one in this group. Fran

    eagles

Nice job on the eagles. Fran
  12. Very nice jewlery box. Fra
  13. So many nice pieces of work. As far as the newbies, I wouldn't know you are new to scrolling if you didn't say so. Like I said before it would be hard to pick out a favorite one. Fran
  14. Very nice cutings Handi and Linda. Can't pick which is best, cause all are good. Tho I do like the tea light holders. Fran
  15. I type the list and where used on regular paper since each project will be different. Then cut it out and paste with tacky glue to the back. I use masonite for a backer, some people use bb and write on the wood itself. BB is more expensive and since I seldom sell a project it works just fine. Fran
  16. I use the smaller address lables with e-mail address. Also on my intarsia I will glue a small piece of paper telling what woods are used and where. Fran
  17. Real cute. Fran

    finish

I use brush on poly. I tried some Watco Danish oil one time on some walnut and it still wasn't dry after a few days. Could it be that the oil was too old? I used it straight out of the can, should I have thinned it some? Fran
  19. My saw and tools are in a garage/shop/storage area. Cold in winter, hot in summer. Have a kerosene heater which takes the chill off. Fran
  20. My mother got me started making things out of wood, bird feeders, paper towel holders, then I started seeing the painted things and knew I had to try that. Bought my first scrollsaw in 1987 and been making dust ever since. Fran
  21. My first saw was a single speed Delta, second was a two speed Delta which vibrated so much that even after bolting it to the work bench, every thing vibrated some. Third saw was a variable speed Delta, a nice saw but kinda wore it out. I retired in 2005 and sold some test equipment and bought an EX 21. It is really one nice saw. Fran
  22. A very nice group. Thanks for letting me be a member. Fran
