  1. I looked at your album, Mal. And the first pic. the bulldog was so realistic that I was wondering if you were into intarsia or taxidermy. All the dogs are very good. Would like to know what woods you used, exp. the round frame. Fran
  2. Travis, these are no's 53,54,55. I have sold a few, but mainly give them away. The last one I had made, I gave to the neighbor guy for helping me get my new planer from the truck to inside my shop. Fran
  3. Golly, Clayton, you are so talented, and clever. Yep, I bet your dad was really pleased with it. Fran
  4. Real good job on the cutting and especially the patterns. The first thing I noticed on the little girls pictures was the eyes. You did really good on them. I think with pattern making or painting the eyes have to be the hardest to capture. Fran
  5. Pat, That turned out great. I never got around to making this one, but what I did do was take that bottom cardinal and made a magnet with it. Fran
  6. Right now it is three more of the angels like I have in my album. Just have to trim the wings to fit the body and then the backers. Just waiting for the weather to warm back up a bit to finish them. Fran
  7. I tried it once using coarse sandpaper, and it seemed to help a little. But I just forget to do it. Fran
  8. Travis, I have never used a "sanding sealer", but back when I was doing a lot of painting on pine, I used the clear shellac. It dries very fast and after a light sanding leaves the wood soooo smooth. It also seems to prevent the rosin from seeping through. A lot of times I would use Kiltz (sp) as it would protect from the rosin also. I am intrested in what others have to say about the sanding sealer. Fran
  9. Good luck with your show and be sure to let us know how it turns out. Fran
  10. Nice job, I bet your son will love playing with these Fran
  11. The toys are really cute. The grandson in going to like them. Fran
  12. Very nice cutting, Bill. Thanks for showing us Fran
  13. Welcome to the group, Bill Fran
  14. Wood for me. I have cut a little bit of plexiglass, but no metal. Although if I find the right pattern or the right mood, I might give it a try. As far as a particular kind of wood, I do like cutting poplar, red cedar, walnut, well I guess any of the hard woods, since I like intarsia. I also make things out of regular pine. Oh, heck, I just like cutting wood. lol Fran
  15. Quite a few of those trees around here too. We all used to call them "horse apple" trees because of the fruit. Have no idea if horses would eat them or not, but you haven't been in a war until you have a horse apple fight. lol Another name is bois 'd arc or something like that. Fran
  16. I almost always use premade bought wheels, but one time I wanted some wide wheels to go on a dragster. I used a hole saw then like Blame, ran a bolt threw it, but chucked in my drill press. Used a rasp or very course sand paper or even better use emory cloth to smooth down. I even put treads on some of them, but won't go into that as if could be hurtful if not careful. lol Fran

    Birdhouse

Travis, the pattern is available from Scroller Ltd. $3.99 I think it was, and the directions are very clear. I know there is a web site, but I ordered from their catalogue. After a few people saw them I now have to make more. I don't sell any of my stuff, just give it away. I just like to be busy in my shop piddling on making things. And thanks everyone for looking and the compliments. Fran

    Birdhouse

Been building some birdhouses for friends. Just wanted to show a picture of one of them. The pattern is by Jerry Crim and is made of western red cedar. The top part is stained dark walnut. Finished with several coats of outdoor poly. Fran
  19. Really nice job on the box. I saw that pattern and thought about trying it. Was it very hard to make? I also like the little hearts for drawer pulls. Fran
  20. Very neat, indeed. I have used the platters for clock faces, but never thought of using the whole drive. Makes it very intresting. Fran

Glad you are here, look around and make yourself at home. I believe we have at least one other member from Ok. I am from your southern neighbor, Texas. Fran
  25. Really nice, Fez. Thanks for sharing your pattern and recipe. Do you use one of those "night light" fixtures in it? Fran
