  1. Yep the blade is probably in upside down..You can sometimes tell by releasing pressure on your work piece ..the saw blade will lift the wood off the work surface causing it to chatter...
  2. After reading your post, I went out to the shop and just took a look around...I noticed I had several pieces of cutoff wood just sticking up out of a box...In front of the box are pads I stand on to relieve stress on my hips and back. If I were to trip over the pad I might very well have been impaled on these "spears". Thanks for the reminder, everything is now lying flat... Glad you made it by this one with a nick and not a slice or worse...

  22. Wonderful post....Very detailed and I enjoyed your tour. I tried card stock before and found the same issue of separation. I just use heavier bond paper and it works ideally. If I may: I got the bug for kids puzzles one day in May 2009 while I was waiting at the Oncology dept for my treatment. A grandpa had brought his little grandson with him who was 5 years old, and while grandpa went back for his radiation therapy I watched the little boy while I awaited my turn, and he was so bored. Nothing to do and he was a little scared for his grandpa. I went home that day and made a couple of puzzles for the waiting room and brought them back the next day they were a really big hit. Then Carter (you all know carter, the puzzle master) got me to try my hand at cutting out a jigsaw puzzle freehand, no over laid pattern. I made one and gave it to a family member with a note attached, that when they were done to please give it to a friend. There was one caveat, they needed to contact me and let me know where it is. So far it has traveled to 4 states, and seems to end up at senior centers. 1 person said 63 people had assembled it at one of the senior centers in Seattle. I have rec'd several phone calls thanking me for the use of my puzzle and asking for more. I finally found my way to give back. The team at the oncology center where I got my treatments were so helpful I just had to find a way to repay their dedication and compassion, Cancer is a scary thing to go through. I made each of them a really cute bookmark, this too was very much appreciated and then i amde a plaque for their wall. The wolf is the traveling puzzle. The others are in the waiting room bringing smiles to kids faces, I have even seen some of the adults playing with them to pass the time...
  23. I got involved in this project this year for the first time. As a vet myself 68-71 I understand what it is like to be away for the holidays..This is a wonderful cause. I wish that we had people back home doing this for us when I was over the pond. I have cut about 24 so far and just found a bunch more ornaments to choose from so will be cutting more. I was told that they like them to be under 5" and they would prefer less intricate ones as they have had feedback the soldiers like to carry them in their pockets and the fragile ones tend to get broken easily. My wifes church sunday school which she teaches is also involved now with letter writing and decorating paper bags.... None of my business but I was told they prefer nothing that looks military or guns etc. Just a heads up. I think that maybe you would want to check to see if the ornament that ilovetosaw contributed is appropriate for this endeavor? It is a great ornament so don't get your feelings hurt but is it appropriate for this project?
  24. I've been looking for a supplier for the earring HOOKS?? and for the rings for keychains...I can't find any locally. I see Sue has earrings in her album...shadylady where did you find the keychain rings? Thanks for any help.
  25. I have a workbench and I also use my table saw top. I also use a work mate for some heavy sanding jobs out doors with the belt sander, as my shop vac really won't contain all of that sawdust created by a belt sander. I was fortunate enough to get some lower cabinets with doors when a business was going out of business so i can store most of my hand held tools out of the way and behind closed doors.
