  1. This is from the book 300 Christian & Inspirational Patterns for Scroll Saw Wood Working by Tom Zieg. My wife liked it so I cut this out for her. Cut out of Red Oak and finished with Golden Oak Danish Oil.
  2. Not only do they look professional so does the photographs. Awesome job all around!
  3. I have been wanting to do a jigsaw puzzle for a while. I even had the Christmas Card picked out for a while but my workshop is not heated and I hate the cold. Well it finally warmed up enough for me to start working again, actually it warmed up a while back then lazy took over. So I did it. The longest part of this project was designing the actual pattern since I am not able to freehand a puzzle at this point. Which I found out was so much harder then it looks hence lots of wasted time. So a search of the internet and I found someone had done all that work already and all I had to do was donwload it! And it is free! there is still work to be done by hand but something that a non-drawer like myself can handle easily thanks to the tutorials on this very fine website! Anyway the place where I found the pieces was here: http://clipart.nicubunu.ro/?gallery=jigsaw Oh and here are the pictures of the puzzle. One in pieces and one together The pieces all scrambled! All assembled!
  4. Great cuttings!
  5. I have my scroll saw on my workbench. I started out standing but as has been mentioned here already sometimes you are standing there for hours till you are done or are done enough for the day. Needless to say my back would ache something terrible. When my back aches my accuracy starts to wavier. So it only took about a week or so to realize I needed something to sit on so I bought a wooden stool it does not look to be comfortable but I can sit on it for hours. The idea here is to be comfortable so you can be relaxed as possible while cutting. Relaxed leads to more accurate cuts.
  6. I submitted the report to ebay! Hopefully they will pull the listing
  7. I use poplar myself for most of my stuff.
  8. Awesome feature!
  9. I find myself doing puzzles. I like solving puzzles so I guess that is a fit. I thought I was going to be doing more Fret work. Now that winter is here I'm on my winter break. It is way too cold outside in my shed to do anything. I don't mind the heat we get here but I can't stand the cold :(. Once we warm up I'll go back out and start again
  10. I followed and enjoyed the WIP and the finished product is just the greatest I have seen. You do fantastic work.
  11. I just completed my second tree puzzle and it is different from the first. There were some unique challenges with this copy. First off I dropped a piece and did not realize it then I went and stepped on it breaking it! I was like nooooooo. How am I going to fix this. I looked at gluing it but quickly thought better of it. I am selling this one also and did not want it to break and then they see the fact that it was glued previously. That would tarnish my rep for this and I'm just starting out selling my stuff so I went the took an extra copy of the pattern and jut cut out the piece that I broke and glued it to a scrap piece of wood. I then cut out another piece and I was hoping it would fit. I was not so lucky but nothing my dremel could not sand down. I then painted it and I am happy with the out come. Any way here is the second puzzle. And to compare easily here is my first:
  12. Sure here is the new file
  13. I cut a bunch of these out to give as xmas presents. Just did the outline and rounded over the edges but when I cut out the pieces I was a little bit disappointed in how it turned out the pieces just had too much play to stand it up the locking pieces just was not locking it well. I was like man I should never have cut so many out without at least cutting one out fully first. So I decided to just make it a flat puzzle and remove the standing option. But then I tried to put this thing together and I was planning on giving them out to my Sunday School class. They are 1st - 6th graders. Well it was hard to put together so I thought man I just can't win with this project. This puzzle really needs a photo to go along with it so that it can be assembled that is for sure. But rather then give up I figured I would just go ahead and paint this thing and see how it comes out. Well to my surprise most of the flaws have gone away since the paint makes it it tighter! I was rather impressed with the way it came out if I do say so myself. I'm not much of a painter but the suggestion to separate the pieces randomly and paint them makes this thing just snap! It will even stand but it can be hard to get upright in one piece so I'm leaving the stand option out of it. I'm also not going to give it to the younger kids since I think it will be too hard for them. I do have a couple sold to a woman at work sight unseen. I think she will like it. The piece count is 50 green pieces and 9 brown pieces. So the piece count is 59 pieces. To make it a little bit easier to put together I also painted the back side black. Which you can not see in the picture but it makes the puzzle more solvable. I do want the kids to be able to put this thing together. Anyway here it is.
  14. Glad you are going to be fine. Guys don't need a phobia to avoid doctors it is that part of we're tough that makes us not go to hospitals and doctors, but sometimes we need to go and when it is all said and done it was usually a good idea to go. I had a friend years ago that had some really bad scars on his face from being macho. Doesn't always pay to pretend it is not that bad. I know 5 stitches sounds small but heck it will scar a whole lot less that if left alone.
  15. Sorry about that it is Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts their website is http://www.scrollsawer.com/

  19. I completed the Fretwork crosses I started last week. Had to finish them and glue them up. Both made from Oak Ply. I made one painted fretwork with a natural stained background. The other is Stained Medium Walnut fretwork and gold painted back.
  20. Another three puzzles in the series. All cut from Poplar finished with Danish Oil. Scorpio Sagittarius Libra
  21. Actually I have been putting them up in my cubicle and people have been admiring them as they walk by. One woman has already asked me to make a couple for her to buy as xmas gifts. I'm currently making them to give as gifts to the kids in the Sunday School class I teach.
  22. I completed two more puzzles this weekend. Leo Virgo
  23. Great job on it!
  24. I want to start on a cross I've had my eye on. Plus I want to continue the Zodiac puzzles. The puzzles I can do in one sitting while I know the cross will be multiple. I'll have to see how the chores go. My company is moving from the Raleigh NC area to the Houston TX area this Christmas so I'll have to put my saw away for a while to start getting my house ready for sale and then move and search for a new house there. So I am trying to get as much in this weekend as possible This not only marks the end of my summer but much less time to scroll!
  25. Awesome job on that one!
