the longer you leave it exposed to sunlight the darker red it becomes which highlights the black features that it developes naturally, it really is a beautiful wood and it makes some tasty BBQ as well!!!
Up to 1/2 inch it's not too bad, scrolls really well any bigger than that it gets hard to work with because it really is a hard wood. Had some 2" slabs and it dulled my miter saw and table saw pretty quickly.
i glued up this wood several weeks ago and just didn't know what do to with it. then a bowl idea hit me from a picture i had seen and this is the result. made from mesquite pieces glued together with walnut feet, hope you like it.
This bowl is 7" across and 2-1/2 tall. I need to go buy some more wood so I can make some bigger bowls. Looks like a trip to the hardwood store is in my future:)
