  6. Just can't get away from the custumer .They keep wanting me to do more and more.Whats a scroller to do.Beats a blank though. It'll happen sooner than later and it looks like it'll be later.Im over stocked on wood and need to make some saw dust a plenty.Next it'll be the rainy season knocking me down!
  7. because i need glasses i though it was the lid to the arc of the covennant with two angels facing each other. This one came out great and will be a conversational piece where it stands on the desk.
  8. Nothing looked easy at all on this one.You used all your sences together to master a complex project like this one.Excellant pattern of the family .Another master piece by the master!
  9. This project is the cream of the crop of doves on a cross. The woods are perfect combo for this one.you did'nt say if this was of your design or someone elses.I see you went all out to bring the bird to life as it is realistic looking.Great work on this one !
  10. Such graditude and due reward is due to the Sargent Walker.Painstakeidly designed in memorance of our fallen hero to be rememberd forever .
  11. I'm on the library computer and things are working as they should .I've tryed to post to claytons and yours but could not for days.I have never seen a piece of wood go together with a project as yours.Accualy the piece of wood perimeter looks like an outline of a black bear,or you did that ,i don't know. What a quality cutting piece you've done DAN.By far this is a class # 1 exibit anywhere.A real show stopper .Thia has all the rifgt ingredients for making the grade.I'm not into bears at all but i'd hang this baby up in the home. You impressed the heck out of me with this one .!

  13. Man I've been trying to comment on these three pieces you've done for days.somethings haywire here. You choice of woods is what makes the cake here.Your creativety is the iceing on the cake too.these intarsia's of yours belong on a platter,a gold one at that.if you've save everyone you've done you'd amaze your self at the beauty of it all.when I sell an intarsia it takes something out of me.st be the saddest man if that's true for you too like me.It takes a lot for me to budge selling one.your one of the best in the businese around for intarsia.Great work Mr.Clayton !

  15. I've sold tons of religious stuff and probably more crosses than anything else.even ones I thought wouldn't sell.Thats the part that amazes me ! I don't make toys yet.Clocks were a good seller but the time to make one and only get 20-25 for it it's not worth the time.Other peoples portraits sell but you need a lot of them to please everybody.Portraits of deseased right now do good ,like mickael Jackson, whitney Houston. You got to be of top of these to get it while its hot .Keychains did good I sold over 500 but that was on a Meet and greet show and tell deal like at the stores you visit.Flea markets are to be good from what I've heard.any place where there is a walkaround crowd is good.schools have craft shows and are the lowest price of anywhere I've found.free or 10 bucks.churchs tend to be higher and organized craft shows are in the low hundreds for three day meets.Hope this helps!
  16. Well Saturday is the big day when I can start to scroll again.I won't know how to act !No idea what to do first but I have a long list of names for customers they wanted.Feels good people are still showing up at my vacant stand and asking where's that guy !One person took 7 of my works ,portraits to a condo sale,so lets see what happens there.Something different would be nice to scroll ,like a different type of project to start off with would be nice.I lost all my dexterity i'm sure not scrolling so slow as it goes cutting for a while I guess.Pictures will be coming again!See you soon !
  17. wahoo !!! somebodys going to show us how it's done ! I really love seeing other scrollers set up at show and what ever ,even their shop sa rre fine.anything to do with what we do is fine.i remember james dean big time, thanks for the memories,Handsome scrolling

  21. Welcome BIGTOM,Your in great hands here with scrolling questions and they are to be directed to the proper forum but i'll make an excepion as your a newbee.lol there are many reasons for your blades to break and experience is a costly way of correcting the problem.that;s where we come in ,Your new ssv friends.Probable a good start for a newcomer is the sight un seen one of touching the blades on the ends where they are clamped in.the oil on your fingers will cause them to slip out and break on you.Papa brett said one i have'nt heard of here on the forum but yes he said pushing to hard will do it to and faster than anything for a cause of breakage. To little tightness is a big cause too.Tighten them up like the thin e- string on a guitar. To fast a start up speed with any of these problems will break it immediaetly. To much tightness on the blade clamps will break the blades also and the skinnyer the blade the quicker it will break and even before you turn on the machine on.wore out used machines will do it to .I've wore out demil scrollsaws to where i had to cut a 1/4 " off the blade to get them to be able to adjust them tight. And there's more reasons too.But i'll let someone else chime in with them so you'll make some more new helpful friends here. Thanks for joining ours and yours ssv club.
  22. Robert congradulations on the fine wood work your displaying here for us to see.Quality plus.no sticking the mud here, lol your choice of woods are a real good combination that compliment each other.there's quite a bit of tedious assembly here and many custom fit pieces to care for.A real time consumer.well done sir!
  23. Thanks everyone for the welcome warm comments ! i had done this years ago and it's in the old gallery here.It was done on very cheap cabinet board like not even but maybe an 1/8 th thickness.the worst wood to scroll with in the world.I also did the lords prayer in the same wood .glutton for punishment, but i love to scroll and it was a beautyfull piece of wood .Just worthless except for a backing board for a cabinet.I did'nt let that stop my love of scrolling.you should have seen the splinters which i took pictures of and posted them too.On the lords prayer which was big on the first line i scraped a letter in two but because of what i was scrolling i finished it .Not to many letters fell out.the caddy was done so slow as i really wanted to do this car as i had one .I still have it too .,the wood one, in my friends car repair shop on the walls with many other projects .i scrolled for 4 years at a speed you would not believe.so slow you could watch the blade go up and down.we lived in a apartment house and anything faster than dead slow made too much noise.i was happy the neighbors were happy .because of the slow speed i was making chinese saws last allmost a year.then in 2010 i was cutting outside my friends shop and was flying at top speed knocking out projects a plenty.I was impressed with the saws speed and wonderd why i ever cut slow but the noise was the reason.Since then the chinese saw wear out in 2 months and the dw788 a little longer.i can;t scroll enough.i got the scroll bug bad.I've heard it said on ssv that any scroll saw won't hold up to the punishment of push push push like i do to them.OPP's i got carryed away .sorry
  24. I'm sure mike at flying dutch man will be more than happy to assist you with his best blades for the job.you can e-mail him on his site.i use his scroll reverse blades alot as i need a good finish on top and bottom with little or no sanding envolved.
