This is truely a masterpiece done by the master.I'd be curious as to the hours thinking about what to do and the hours worked on this "taj mahal" lol.Your lines and cuts flow like water.what dextreity!Did you have time for any other thoughts as you got into the thick of it?I just made a dog puzzel and with only 6 pieces ,just try to put it together once they got reoriented around, upside down backward.Drove me crazy at how complex 6 piece's could be .I can feel the adrenalyn and antisapatien of what you went through with that many pieces. Was it over 100 pieces? That would have been over 100 problems for me .I'm afraid to ask whats the next challange will be.That was really something ,"the little engine that could" lol, marvelous job.A prize winner!LOVE IT!

So this is what they call fretwork,i never knew.I was curious too ,is a fret saw differant than a scroll saw.I see them advertized in the magazine.Mr.NEWBIE did a clean cut great job.I would accept his work anyday.! I'd like to know what blades were used too.Hope you post alot of your work .I,m eager to see more of your work.Your very good with the camera too.I've never seen a jumbo picture like that here the short time i've been here.Your work is flawless too as the jumbo picture shows every minute detail, and a super clear shot too.Bravo.Take a look at Mr greasemonkeys work he's real good at what he does. You can also private message him(pm) or e-mail him .We are very available to offer insight and help any way we can with your hobbie.Theres well over 2000 scroll sawn photos to look at in the village site as you get acustom to geting around here.Everyday i am overwelmed at how fantastic of a site this .It is very userfriendly.Travis is on the ball and doe's a super job of keeping this site top notch. He has saved me many times .I learned from my mistakes here ,like i did'nt know how to post a picture ,or shrink a picture down to fit in my gallery .It's so easy once you know. His responce was lightning fast and saved my day.Great guy to know.Feel free to scroll around ,surf, open doors .You will love your new home WELCOME TO THE VILLAGE!.

I made this for my daughter for Christmas.
amazingkevin replied to wood-n-things's topic in Bragging Rights
Thats a nice one !Diffenetly a keepsake decoration conversation piece. My friends wife which has been married 10 or more years says that marriage needs to have an expiration date too.lol They have way to many conflicts for me to hang around. One what's to push the other wants to pull. No meetings of the minds in that house .Very proffessional people too .I'm sure they could use a gift like yours to remind them why they got together in the first place. -
thank you thank you thank you!i have 200 now that'll hold me for a couple of days!lol

I myself have found a little trick too. when i drill through some wood ,about 3/4 through the piece i pull back out ,touch the drill bit end ever so slight and that cleans out the ferrels?of the drill and i can go right back in and not bust out the bottom.I guess the cut wood has no place to go as they are not the best self cleaning bits for the sizes we use scrolling.I don't go back in the hole like a fox either, slow and easy.I don't have cheap wood to use under my work piece. This has been a blessing for me.It's ruined alot of pieces till i found out another way as explained above.Reminds me of my vegetable juicer which is a masicating one .forces the pulp in a corner, tightly squeezes the juice out through a screen .When the pulp builds up it too is forced out another hole .Probably sounds confuseing but it works.

I was going to ask when it is too but remembered that allmost anything you want to know ,type it in the search box. It's what computers do best.I got the same exact answer, your good like that. Thanks!

I most assuredly need and want to chat 24 /7I have the password ,signed up .an d jumped the hoops and rand in circles put can't get in.You allso said we don't have to sign in?Not to user friendly for me, but usually you gotta tell me twice.I' m ready too chat but can't. Guess i'll have to wait for the instuctions in braille.lol

Thanks for the replys ,as i know nothing about puzzels.I'm getting more and more orders for "i love my....type of dog and with silhouette of said dog.I'm getting in big trouble doing this now because i dont't have enough varieties of dog silouettes to work from. I searched the net and came up with a few but nothing i could use.Any body have any clues.I was using STEVE GOOD'S dog patterns but he only gave a few to work from. This is fun work and seeing the smiles on their faces is exzilerating. They look at it so intens ely i think their looking thru it.Don't know why they are looking at it so hard. But by the smile i guess it's all good! Please and thank you....!

Good job!, Fast responce too. Mike has one for puzzels so i'll order .Thank you! This is much appreicated!

Goodevening group! I tryed my first puzzel making with a daugshut dog. used a 26 tooth blade. It left much to be desired fron 1/4" plywood, went up to 32, teeth that was better but still not to my liking. Is there a rule of thumb for thickness of wood, type of wood, etc .Let me know .The 32 tooth blade was like a thread,i can't imagine useing smaller but maybe. Please and thank you.

I haven't laughed this hard in a long time .!thank you DANKC 908 for the funny one about you can get better inside cuts with a circular saw than with spiral blades! that was a funny .i'm still chuckling and the smile is from ear to ear.americas funnyest should here that one!lol
-
Hey thanks guys you are quick on the switch around here. This will be a combo ,MARSHALL,GREASEMONKEY thing!lol Now the spiral blade thing the way i see it is alot like fishin. there's two kinds of fisherman.Freshwater and salt water. I have never seen the two mix . your either one or the other!, from what iv'e seen .There's allways exception but i think this is the norm.Which is probably the same for spiral and straight blades .You love them or hate them.Personally i hate them .I have less than 5 minutes practice time so thats part of the problem .It was a misserable 5 minutes to say the least .It's got to grow on you with practice i'm sure. I want my blades to go exactly where i want and the spirals and me have a problem there .I like to cut fast and with a tight blade ,no wander aloud here.spirals as marshall says you need to slow down a bit.I think if i do a puzzel i might get the hang of it put thats in the future.(near).You villagers really set an example for try to do your best at what your doing and it shows .The stuff you'all are turning out boggles my mind .It really makes me want to do better and better so i can be a big dog o and come off the porch once in a while and woof and howl at what i did lol.

oil is oil, grease is thick oil.Oh thank MR.GREASEMONKEYREDNECK!No harm done ,the saw is in the mail! But i would consider adding a zerk fitting to the pivot pionts and do the grease thing.Wipe off the fitting before i juice it up and if i over do it ,they will be self cleaning.Another plus.If i don'''t have to shell out money and keep it runnin like you do i'm all for that. I like to tinker alot.BUT sometimes i try to make something a little better, sounded good on paper but rendered it totaly useless. Thats only happened maybe a few times. When there's a will there's a way.Saved me many times. Thanks for the great idea. The grease is allways going to be there and not run off like the oil would.Smart idea. You must be an engineer, tech designer.I love watching your skills in progress .I never would have imagined all the processes that go into what your doing.I'm sure your pain your in some times is off your mind as busy as you are .Say thats a handsome home depot crew you've got their.Chips off the old block .Very brite looking too ,takes after the dad .All look alikes too lol.I sent you a long pm message a while ago and was devistated that it went to the dead letter office .My puting skills are ripeining but slowly. It's fun trying .I could'nt remember all i said ,that was the bad part,it was like finding a long lost friend the way i went on and on about everything ,you ,the village ,your pain, your work in progress wip.i wanted to start over but forgot about it,Surfing the village.thanks for the info gotta go bye!travis took off my favorite smilely face so i can't send one yet!

Does any body know which saws have the vice type of blade holders .they work very good with spiral blades with out hammering them flat.Thumb screws tend to let the blade walk out as you tighten them. With Very thin blades this is compounded.please and thankyou! One of the old deltas had it ,called a quick release.Problem i had with it to was if you tighten it to tight ,as you saw it explodes open and your on the floor looking for the micro spring and such.Nothings perfect.Itryed the very fine blades and love the results, but thumb screws are a pain with fine blades.i'm open for suggestions.Thats one of the things i did not like about the dw788 i looked at.I did'nt see any oil holes on the dw788 either.?Changeing the bottom blade seemed very hard to as i exzamined the dw788.thanks bye

Hello PAUL, welcome to the village. There's allways plenty do do here and it's all fun too.I'd be interested in what types of scroll saws are available there. There's plenty to learn and from the best teachers around here.I have'nt seen a question that could'nt be answered.Help with most any craft subject is quite available too.Lots of work in progress with tons of photos ,plenty of free patterns and friendly fun people here.I've been here a very short time and feel right at home .No place i'd rather be but here. You'll fit right in , enjoy your stay and come back often !

Why thankyou RJA,You know as time went on it was getting profusdly harder and harder to change blades.Shortly before i sent it in ,maybe a couple of weeks ,i told myself ,let's get to the bottom of this and find out once and for all what is going on here .Your exactly right .!The rear pivot points are so worn that the slop makes the blades to long to fit in the blade holders.I mean i can raise and lower the top arm with out a blade in it at least an inch.It should be zero tolarance or next to none right there.Your a good detective and i almost found out to late for the warranty to cover the repair. Thanks for the good insite about dremil.sigh,i am sweatin it .as i don't have cash to back up a repair bill.Wow i feel so much better ,thank you again. When i get it back i'll open it up to look see and fabricate an opening so i can use your litium grease frequintly.I did the same thing with a sewing machine i bought from taiwan. That saved the machine as there were places that needed lube but they didn't want you to lube it ,grrrr!.Greasemonkeyredneck say grease is better so grease i'tll be.He's the one with the expertice.I love running into people that have been there done that!I have time on my hands now and will look at all you work you posted ,to see where your at and what you've done. There's a never ending cycle of not knowing enough about computers it makes my head swim. But once you know you know. This is such a complicated piece of electronic no moving parts that it's not even fathomable if someone told you about it that you could operate it with little or know knowlege at all about it.It's mind boggeling wehat an invention.thankyou for shareing your needed knowlege with me.it will help me save it next time,CHOW!

Howdy scrollers,My new dremil 1830-01 is going to buy the farm.I'm 29 days from the 1 year warranty and it's wore out.Anybody ever return something and has some sharp shooter answers for the company.I complained to the company many times about the saw and they schrugged there shoulders at me as to what the problem might be.It has 10 faults not user friendly.I bore with it but now i can not do detail work .did i violate the warranty by not sending it back ?. It was christmas time then and the wrong time to sent my money maker away.some feedback could be usefull. They said ups will pick it up from my house so thats a plus.

Stack cut 4 pigs ,hollow out the 2 inside ones ,cut a coin slot ,glue together and you have a quick PIGGY bank some youngster will love and cherish.Quick and simple.Bet you could make 20 aday easy.A penny earned is maybe a penny saved.I really like the shape of the pigglets ,plump and cute young, makes me smile to see porky!lol.Hot makes the butter fly ,looks like a monarck. Those would be great as a mobile ,possiably with cut to fit colored plastic,or colored film to liven it up.Anyway you choose you can't deny it looks great ,another fine job well done .
