    Pens

oh wow...those are really nice dan! great job! so sealing the ends on wood and then in the dehydrator..and that works well? i have a monster industrial dehydrator from cabelas..i may try this with my bowls
  2. i have been hearing a lot of people say that...and after watching youtubes i may have to break down and try them.
  3. haha..right on..none of mine are concealable.
  4. Another good point..nobody would be allowed in the house..and as far as if anybody wanting to come looking for trouble...i have several loaded guns around the house..they wanna dance...i can make sure its their last.
  5. that is a good point...part of why i avoid ebay..everybody wants something for nothing....say a pen kit costs me 5 bucks...wood 50 cents...a dollar for sandpaper and finish....roughly an hour of my time start to finish...and people sell on ebay for 5 with free shipping...in no world does that sound profitable for me...lol.. maybe will just open a quarterly Tindell Wood Art/Crafts Gallery Expo ...haha...hoping if maybe put some of the nicer items on an add for the whole thing on Craiglists. Maybe will drum up some custom orders too.
  6. thanks for the input guys. guess i really dont have anything to lose..guess if its a flop...no biggie..im not out booth fees or anything like that. just a day getting to be spent in my garage...what a bummer...haha Good luck to you Jim!! hope it works out for you!! Kevin i hear ya...i live in a very culturally diverse neighborhood...a lot of hispanics...and one thing they all like to do is throw a lot of loud parties into the wee hours....i never complain about the noise or them parking in my way...just being a tolerant neighbor...BUT...i betcha people start complaining about me....haha..no more mr nice guy..
  7. I know a lot of you guys that sell your crafts do so at flea markets...craft shows...galleries...online...but i have another idea...im just wondering if it sounds like it would work? or even if its legal. i was thinking maybe build up an inventory of scrolled and turned items, advertise the heck out of it, and have a craft gallery/yard sale type sale at the house? just curious if you think it work?
  8. always a learning curve with a new toy. im sure you will figure it out congrats on the new tool. i dont recognize the red paint...what brand is it?
  9. im not sure what exactly you are looking for..but i know that wildwood designs has ring turning supplies. http://www.bangleguy.com my wife has been on me to invest in the stuff to make rings...lol
  10. That is a great point Frank. I should probably check to see what they think.
  11. Yes sir i think that will work. thanks Don!!
  12. They didnt seem to keen on the idea...will file that away for my own use..thank you anybody else have any ideas?
  13. hmmm....that is an interesting idea...I will run it past them and see what they think...thanks
  14. Ok so this is going to be an easy one for you guys. My skills when it comes to patterns or next to nothing...and only font I have that I can use for word stuff is the free for all. So I had a friend at church ask me if I could do a sign for their front door. Looking for something simple...word art where they letters all connect..not looking for a sign where the letters are what is cut out of the wood. So I guess it would be classified as a hanging type of sign. Their last name is Posadas. So maybe a Welcome to the Posadas. Or just The Posadas. Im sure you all will come up with something that will look good. Like I said. My skills are very limited. Thank you all God Bless Robert
  15. Really would be random hardwoods..whatever i can get ahold of..i turn a lot too. so would be whatever i have. and as far as scrolling...i do a bit of everything..fretwork..toys..just whatever i feel like at the time..maybe milling my own wont be worth the trouble...lol
  16. Thanks Kevin...tried to message you back but my phone wont let me. didnt want you to think i was being rude and ignoring you.
  17. Very nice...im not a fan of turning acrylic...stinks up the shop and gets everywhere. have made a few..my wife loves her pen i made her from it...but given the option i will take the wood everytime...lol keep up the good work
  18. So i recently got a new bandsaw. broke down and got a 17" saw with riser and all that jazz (go big or go home right? haha) anyway..was wanting to mill some 1/4 inch stuff for scrolling. was curious if anybody here does this and how long do you let it sit to dry before planing and using it? I figure seal the ends and let it sit for a few months and should be good to go since it is so thin. thanks everbody
  19. Ok thanks guys
  20. Good Evening Everyone, Was starting to think about what I'm going to do for Christmas presents and wanting to get them done now. My mother in law is a huge fan of lady bugs. I was wondering if anybody has a pattern or could create one that would work as a fret piece...probably around 8x10 size? not sure what exactly I'm thinking yet. Maybe 1 or 2 lady bugs on a leaf? or maybe plant of some kind. Thanks in advance. God Bless Robert Tindell
