  1. All the VS models are Variable Speed.. what the VS means on the tag.. My old 220VS was a round clamp saw..
  2. When I downloaded them to view them I just right clicked copy image and then I went to the program "windows paint" then pasted the image there and click file save as and you can choose the file format to change to.. Also sometimes when you save a image you have a drop down option to save as file type.. This is done on my desktop computer.. I'm not sure how you'd do it from a cell phone.. Though most photos I upload are from my cell phone.. and at one time I had issues too but I don't remember what I did.. maybe I changed something in my phone settings.. Don't feel bad about tech stuff.. my son builds computers and works for a computer company doing programming and other things... even took a class on cyber security and was in the top 100 worldwide for it during competitions.. can hack other computers trace them down etc.. but if my printer won't print he can't figure it out, Hahaha.. When we did figure it out it was stupid simple too, LOL
  3. These are the pictures... since I had to download to view I changed the file to jpeg.. Neat looking set up..
  4. Yes, they can give you much more info on it.. If they've done any upgrades to it they'd have that recorded too.
  5. I've just looked at a lot of them and called Bushton a million times asking for info on the saws, LOL You are correct though as I was thinking the 226VS on the serial number and they have a total different series for the 220VS.. That said, that logo at the back of the saw is a newer style logo than any of my saws have other than my new saw of coarse, LOL.. I'm not exactly sure when they stopped the round clamps.. but I know they had the T clamp ( Ultra ) style in 1996.. I had a 1993 220VS with round clamps so sometime between there is when the Ultra came out.. To be honest I think 1996 was the first year of the Ultra as I have not seen any older than that.. but I'm really guessing since I'm just basing on what I've seen and read online.. Rolf claims he bought his G4 when they first hit the market in 2005 so I'm guessing that was the ending of the Ultra... However, I've never seen a 20" G4 saw.. SO they might have ran the Ultra style on the 20" saw up until the new BM series came out around 2010-12 ish.. OR maybe the only option at that time was only a 26" saw.. Hawk wasn't and still isn't good at updating the manuals.. They used up their supplies before changing, LOL.. and even then they were less than desirable.. same with stickers they put on the saws.. I wouldn't doubt there could be G4 saws out there with serial tags and stickers for a Ultra.. Yet they seem good at knowing the type and year of saw based on serial number.. LOL..
  6. It's a 220VS ( Variable Speed ) 20" saw which is the "Ultra" version.. Guessing on the serial number and the logo used on the uprights I think it's probably a year 2000 or newer.. Has the added side table option..
  7. When they say blood sweat and tears went into a project they didn't actually mean real blood sweat and tears I don't think.. My son has always used super glue.. even as a young child he'd rather have the glue than a band-aid... I'd rather have a band-aid myself but the glue does work well..
  8. That's pretty close to what I had thought too.. I might keep track of exactly how many blades I use and do another post like this to see for sure.. kind of be fun & interesting to see what the guess's would be.
  9. I didn't figure you'd go wrong with the Hegner once I got first hand experience with one myself with my recent used purchase of one.. I don't think the blade changing / tensioning is as bad as I've seen people mention and certainly not as picky as a Hawk.. Thanks for "trying and reporting " on that dust collection port.. I've been real tempted to buy that thing and now that I've seen two people say they wasn't quite up to par. I'll just save my money and make something of my own up..
  10. This is kind of what every week looks like for me.. sometimes more than this sometimes less.. This is really only 2.5 days of work as I had to see my accountant Monday and run some errands.. Then today I had some more errands to run so my day was cut short.. Anybody take a guess at how many blades I used, LOL.. Honestly I didn't keep exact count but I have a pretty good idea.. Maybe next time I'll keep track and see if anyone could guess.. I know that BBply just likes to eat through my blades..
  11. Week was cut short as I had Monday and half of today out of the shop... But this is my small list of things for the week.. I don't usually work Fridays as the wife has Fridays off so that is our grocery & errands day. Only cut the backers for the John 3:16 and glued / finished them.. Cut the Love Corinthians 16:14 and backers on the Hegner using #3 Pegas MGT blade.. stack cut 3 then profile cut 6 using #7 Pegas MGT as I cut the profile of all of them together so they matched,LOL All the ornaments was cut with #5 Pegas MGT blade some were stacked as 3 since I had some leftover scraps that was already taped etc. Others was stack cut of 5. Trivets was cut from 1/2" Cherry using #5 Pegas blades as well..
  12. I would cut it with a #3 myself.. I might even go back and open up the cut with a 2/0 spiral blade.. Sometimes those fine line details get hidden from the project when you step back a foot or two from it.. Opening the viening cut with a 2/0 is what I do on quite a lot of projects. Everyone has a different view on what width of those cuts should be.. as well as what blade they're comfortable using.
  13. Cool! never thought of that before.. I wonder if the wife would notice the interior doors missing,
  14. When you install blade make sure the upper arm is fully lowered.. I used to push down on the top of the upper blade clamp area with one finger while I twisted the thumb screw.. not only did that but also with the other hand would hold the blade with the other hand and sort of pull up on it.. there are a lot of bearings in these type of saws and with all those moving joints can be slack.. you want as much of that slack out of there when putting in a blade.. only then are you really getting the true tension possible.. Also have to be sure the blades are not slipping in the clamps while applying the tension.
  15. Order for one of these came in yesterday and I was sold out of them so making another batch tomorrow.. Sheila Landry or Keith's design And then this little guy standing with his arms open.. Steve Good pattern.. I made these for my wife and kids way back when the pattern was first released. Thinking that was around 2010 ish?.. Didn't really make anything this year.. we have so much stuff that I've made over the years that I've kinda stopped making things for our house..
  16. My guess is you probably didn't have enough tension on the blade with the #2 Also make sure the blade is in the saw right end up? All the FD-UR blades do cut at a slight angle... but having the blade a little too loose of tension would make it want to wander bad..
  17. ME TOO!! I have pattern books I've bought and then never ever cut any of those awesome patterns.. I bet nobody else ever waste money on patterns and then never cut them out.. Right? LOL.. I'm the same way with wood / lumber.. I take my dust collector sawdust over to my brothers lumber mill to empty into his sawdust pile since he sells sawdust from the mill.. and it's a easy way for me to get rid of my sawdust ( mostly from my planner.) . Anyway, every time I go he sends me home with a truck load of lumber.. I'm getting stacked up and backed up on lumber.. I have piles of it and then I started putting up in the rafters and now that's getting full.. No scrap wood for me.. just pieces I haven't used yet,
  18. Might as well use as a pattern and save on printer ink rather than shedding them.. or am I missing something.. LOL.. That is what I was thinking about doing.. I do agree, why save them once scanned you have the pattern.. I do recommend backing up patterns to a few different devices in case one fails.. or store to a online cloud thing.. I had a hard drive fail one and lost at least 20,000 patterns.. most of which were free patterns from some of the old MSN groups back in the day.. maybe 15 - 20 years ago.. I used to save every pattern I come across so it wasn't like I was going to cut every one of them.. I'd like to try though, LOL
  19. First is to start with the basics.. like... is it plugged in good to the wall and does the wall outlet have power.. Are you using a foot switch? maybe that is bad.. try bypassing the foot switch.. I'm not up on the Hegners or even electrical stuff so I don't know much about diagnosis but I think I've read in the past about these having start capacitors or something? Actually think I seen them in the parts list the other day while researching something else. I don't know but please let us all know what you find out and hopefully it's nothing major.
  20. Paul the newer Hegners have a flex line for the bellows.. I think that is a bracket for holding it in place. I tried to find an image with a good view of this area but wasn't successful, however if you look at the screenshot on the helpful videos page of their site the first video shows the hose going through what looks like that same bracket.. https://advanced-machinery.myshopify.com/pages/helpful-videos-demonstrations-advanced-machinery
  21. Looks like a nice set-up... I've seen several variations of PVC pipe dust collection manifolds etc... I may try to build something up of my own.. Like the larger handle.. they sure didn't take comfort into consideration when designing that handle..
  22. I think in order to be within the copywrite / trademark laws you have to retain the original copies.. A lot of books I have I'd only use a handful of the designs from them so no I personally don't want to do the whole book.. That said, I wonder if you showed a designer proof of having the pattern if they'd share the fine so you could get a good digital copy instead of trying to scan.. However that would also be quite annoying to the designer if everyone started doing that too.. LOL I think in my case I'm going to take a razor knife and cut the pattern pages out that I want and then place them back in the book. If they get lost or whatever so what.. I have my digital file as has been mentioned..
  23. I used both the new to me saw and my Hawk. The Shamrock and about half of the Easter Trivets was done on the new to me saw. Others was done on the Hawk. I'm not certain where I picked the pattern up from but it says to email paulboer12@gmail.. also says free to use and share.. so not sure about if it's okay to share here on the village or not. If you want a copy I'll send you one in the messenger since it says I can share it right on the pattern paper.. Just not sure it is to be uploaded to the village since it's not really mine? Anyway shoot me a message if you want a copy.
  24. So is the vacuum the noise what's loud or the suction noise from the hose or both, LOL.. I have a vacuum that's quite quiet rated at 62dbl. and it isn't bad but I've seen where the suction noise is too much for some folks.. I used to use my big shop vac.. now that was loud.. but not too bad if I put it on the other end of the shop, LOL Thank you
  25. Paul, did your saw come with the flexible line? My saw only has a plastic or nylon? hose that runs from the bellows to a metal connector on top of the upper arm.. that metal connector then extends through the upper arm and has a air nozzle aimed toward the front of the saw.. In some ways I like it because there is no flex line to have to adjust periodically when it gets bumped etc.. but I don't like the fact that it blows the sawdust "at me" rather than off to the side. I'd like to finally set up one of my saws with a dust vacuum of sorts rather than a blower to stir it up even more throughout the shop.. I'm thinking about putting this saw up in my loft where my laser is.. That fine dust that settles and the laser machine is a explosion waiting to happen, LOL.. That is why the laser is up in the storage / inventory area.. with plenty of fire extinguishers.. But it's quite boring to run the laser because there is nothing to do up there but watch the laser do it's thing or design new things on the laptop that's running the laser.. no wifi signal up there so.. running it for any long periods of time is kinda boring..
