  1. I am still new to scrolling and am slowly getting better. The saw I have is a Scheppach Deco 402, which I think is an entry level saw. I may be in a position to get another in a few months and have been looking at the Hegner Multicut 1. The question is will this saw be better or should I continue with the Deco until I feel I am a competent scroller? Malc
  2. I have a pattern that requires some long straight cuts, about six inches, they are internal so I can't use a band saw. What is the best way to cut straight with my scroll saw? Malc
  3. I cut mostly ply and MDF Malc
  4. 5/0 Piercing Saw Blades. I have seen these blades on amazon very cheap are they the same as the no.5 blade we use in our scroll saws? Malc
  5. I would love a foot switch but saws sold here in the U.K. are fitted with zero volt drop out switches so a foot switch would turn it off but not back on again. Malc
  6. Thats where I was going wrong, forgot she was a she!!!
  7. Only my second day of scrolling and have learnt that my saw and I are a team, each with their own job. His is to cut the wood, mine is to guide it, and we are useless at each others job!! One question I have is the sitting position. With the saw on my workbench I was too low, now its on an old computer desk and I think its a tad to low! Guess I'll get it right eventually>
  8. My new scrollsaw, a Deco 402, arrived on Wednesday. I only ordered it from Screwfix on Friday afternoon and was not expecting it for some days due to the bank holiday. There was a problem with the top blade clamp, the gap in it was too wide to close on a blade. I contacted Screwfix's supplier, N.M.A. in Yorkshire Wednesday afternoon. They put not one but two replacements in the post which I received first thing this today (Thursday). I believe that if I am prepared to moan about bad service I must also praise good service. So three cheers to Screwfix, N.M.A., City Link and the Royal mail. Malc
  9. Newbee question, waiting for my new scrollsaw to arrive, Scheppach DECO 402 400mm Scroll Saw , What grade blades should I get to give me a general supply to start with? I think I will be cutting plywood to start with until I get the hang of things. Malc
  10. Hi all, this is my first woodworking project, most of the work was done on a band saw as my old Clarke scrollsaw is not up to the job. My new saw is on order! Clock still needs some work but it runs and is close to completion. This is a great site and so many pattens I don't know where to start! malc

    Greetings

Hi all, name is malcolm living near Dover UK, retired and just about to start scrolling. Been building RC aircraft for years, no room left in the hanger! I have just built a wooden works clock by Brian Law and have decided to delve further into the world of scrolling. I will need lots of help!! Malc
