  1. finally completed the NJROTC plaque I made for my Granddaughter, who just got selected as a platoon leader in her HS freshman class. And a special thanks to Don (OldCrow) who helped me complete the design.
  2. Hopefully, someone here can answer a question, or give me some advice. I'm thinking of doing a pattern from Steve but instead of gluing the fret work onto a piece of wood (raised design), I would like to cut the fret pattern out of the larger wood and then fill the cut-out with some kind of resin/filler of a different color and that will sand some. any suggestions?
  3. tks for the info.
  4. need some help, I have a pattern from the old library in my download cart but I am lost to how I retrieve it under the new software??
  5. gator, need some help. How do I retrieve my down-load cart (old pattern library) under the new system?
  6. Created these two FSU patterns for my granddaughter, junior at Florida State
  7. For all interested, the pattern is by Sue Mey "www.scrollsawartist.com" for around $8.00 download.
  8. Made this for a friend who scored his first hole-in-one.
  9. when you cut the CD's, did you stack, layer, tape...?
  10. Has anyone tried to cut any CD's? I'm thinking of making some of the earrings in the jewelry patterns for my granddaughters and have read somewhere that CD's work. Too avoid breaking during cutting, what would be the best way to layer between a medium? Also, recommendation for a thin but durable wood?
  11. Thanks to all for the encouragement.
  12. hurry, just got clearance from my doctor that I can start scrolling again after 2 heart surgery's in 7 weeks. However, it is really hot in West Central Fla so starting slow and building up strength. But, I can make saw dust again.
  13. Chris, check out Harbor Freight Tools website. Suggest you sign-up for there monthly ad catalog. That's how I got the spindle sander for $99.00. Regular price was $149.99 and on sale in store for $129.99 but with July catalog coupon it was $99.00 with a 2 year extended warranty for $19.99).
  14. Dan, did you make a fence both the left and right side of the spindle. I was thinking of making a fence but cutting out a half circle of the largest insert and clamping onto the table top with clamps when needed.
  15. Well, after reading all the responses (appreciaterd) to my original question, I went to Harbor Freight and purchased their oscillating spindle sander for $99.99 (regularly $149.99) with a 2 year extended warranty for $19.99. I looked at both Rigid spindle/belt combo ($199.99 homedepot) and Sears Craftman's ($249.99) and after considering how much use compared to price decision was easy. Again, want to thanks all of you for your opinions.
  16. still recovering from heart surgery, having daughters family over for burgers/hotdogs and watching baseball. Will be another week before, hopefully, I can start making sawdust again.
  17. Question. Has anyone tried the Central Machinery Oscillating Spindle Sander? Harbor Freight item 95088. They have a sale on until 7/31/11, regular price is $149.99 but it is on sale for $99.99. I was thinking of getting the Drill press sanding drum kits for around $30.00 but at this price it looks too good to pass up and less wear on the drill press.
  18. very nice.....
  19. Doug, frame was from and old battery operated clock we've had for years. It had a convex (outer, like a fishbowl) glass face. I threw it out, carved out the back for the 1/4" Birch and cover the face with a piece of 1/8" plexiglass (Lowes).
  20. just finished a gift for my granddaughter.
  21. I have been using mostly 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood grade B/BB that I get from Sloan's Woodshop. Running short and getting ready to reorder. Was wondering if you prefer 1/8 over 1/4 for patterns? I have used some 1/8" redwood ply and got alot of chip-outs on top. same for 1/8 baltic birch???
  22. Oges, I found the pattern at "saw4fun.com" search "ladybug". This includes the right to personally scroll saw lots of items for a craft show. Our patterns are free, so everyone should be able to download their own copy for scroll sawing. It is not allowed to place any of our patterns on a web site for download.
