  1. I get the hardware store to cut it down for me. I have found tha if I don't say anything at the counter the kid out back will do it for free.
  2. Hi Higg, I've been on a bit of a trivet kick myself lately. I've just been using 3/4 inch pine and the use Lin seed oil on them. I get the wood at the local hardware store. It's the stuff they sell as shelves and such. It's not too pricey and you can get several cuts from one board depending of course what size you get. There are patterns in the library I'm sure or just google trivet and you will get lots. I have decided lately that it isn't really nessessary to go with a more traditional pattern. I have several misc. ones that I think will work well for the less traditional customer. Good luck wth your cutting and show us your work when it's done.
  3. Similar story here. My wife surprised me with my first saw maybe three years ago. When she saw how much I enjoyed the hobby she went out and got me a De Walt, God bless her. I asked her recently what ever made her decide to get me that first saw and she couldn't answer. Oh well if she can ever think of it she knows where to find me.( in the shop lol )
  4. Yes,mine is in the garage as well. The only time it was in the house was when I got rushed to do Christmas gifts for the wife's buddies. Not such a bad thing though, the beer fridge is in the garage too.
  5. Well Dick, I think it looks great whatever blade you used. Makes me think I should dig out my spirals and keep practising. I would love to be able to do something as nice as you did. Tony
  6. HI Deck. Welcome to the club.i know you will enjoy yourself. Tony from canada
  7. It looks great. I enjoy the quick and easy.
  8. That does look very nice. Good one Tony.
  9. Nope, I can't see the difference either. You did a great job Dick.
  10. Hi Kevin, no I didn't do anything fancy. I thought by the time girls shove it in and out of the purse rubbing up against the kitchen sink that they might not hold up
  11. Sorry Dan, what I meant was no more door to door delivery. Most of us go to a big ugly mail box now. Hi Kevin, I kept them simple. I thought anything fancy getting shoved in and out of a women's purse might not hold up.
  12. Hi everyone. To all my Canadian folks. Now that we don't have mail service, just the big box on the corner the wife asked me to make her a key chain. I did and thought what a great way to use up the scrap bits. I made girly stuff like doves, seahorse, cats and took them to work and sold them all. It wasn't a money maker but brought in a few bucks. Give. It a try guys.
  13. .Very nice John but I will have to keep looking. I've only found 1 face and 1 horse. Maybe I should look at it crosseyed.
  14. Very nice indeed. Would enjoy a copy of the horses. Can you recall where you got it?
  15. Had a kick back from the table saw smack dab on my special place. The boys were pretty tender but for sure we're an impressive sight for awhile. I do believe I cried like a baby.
  16. Nothing, the saw is away getting fixed. With all this spare time the wife is dragging me out to help with her gardening. On the bright side she doesn't restrict my beer intake. It's the only way I can tolerate the work.lol
  17. Lol. You chopped off an eye and I lopped off his ear. That's good. Maybe I can put on one of those Van Goht ear patch things. They would look good together. Lol. What's the other one, is it speak no evil? Do we have any takers to complete the set.
  18. Welcome Ron, I know you will enjoy yourself. I'm Tony from Stratford ( Canada )
  19. We have similar stories. It was my wife's idea to get me a de Walt. Doesn't even complain about the extra time in the shop. Now she gets first pick wether she wants a piece or not. What good wives we have. Now if I could only remember what special day is coming up. LOL.
  20. I think I'm impressed but I'm not sure. Lol
  21. Wow, that looks great. It would take me an hour of beer drinking before I would even start something so fragile and even then I'm sure it would end up in the burn pile. Very nice work!
  22. Stratford ontario here.
  23. Well I'm 55years old and still learning my colours so I like the contrast that the black gives me. I'll stick with that. But on the bright side in the summer the lawn can be brown and dead but it still looks fine to me. Lol
  24. I'm just down the road from you in Stratford. Good luck with your scrolling. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
  25. Holy cow guys, I finally got my first pair of man pants. The wife called me to the local hardware store and to my great surprise she got me a de Walt 788. It was wonderful. Drove home through the middle of town and had a one truck parade. Blowing kisses and waving hello. Didn't cut anything yet, everything was blurry looking through the tears and blowing my nose. It's moved me up a notch that's for sure. I have all kinds of pinned blades but the son has been showing an interest. Any help with the care of the saw will be heeded for sure now. Tony
