    I have used this type of wood for pens a few times. I prefer it cut on an angle versus straight accross. On the web site they had and example of a plaque that was cool. I am going to check with my supplier in Canada (Artistic Woods) to see if they carry bigger sheets. Here is an example of a recent pen. Excuse the picture.

    At a meeting at the Durham Woodworkers Club we had to discuss scroll sawing, for tips I compiled a list of the sites in my favourites library. I have attached. I look at each of the first four every day. ( I have lots of time and enjoy the information) Forums.pdf

    I don't have the Harbor Freight sander but I have the combination belt and spindle sander from Rigid. (Homedepot) It is more money ($199 not on sale). I find I use the belt a lot and usually have that on more than the spindles. I do a lot of pens and I use the belt to square the ends. It also does edges very well. The other minus is that the largest spindle is 2 inches but you can use the end of the belt. The warranty is 3 years versus 90 days/one year (what ever that means). My original machine had the lifetime warranty and when I moved recently the movers stripped the thread. I took it back, confessed my sins and since the part was not available they replaced the machine with a refurbished model and it works great. Just a my thoughts.

    You don't where in Michigan you live in Mi but the Midwest Woodworking show in Richland Center Wi. http://www.midwesttradeshow.com/ 7 hours from Detroit, 5 hours from Grand Rapids, (12 hours from Brooklin, Ontario) I checked it out as we always travel in Mi each year as we have family in Travers City and I tried to swing it but they are not there in August.

    This is cool. Thanks for showing. I really love the concept. Did you route out the back before you cut the pattern? If you did did you add a backer when cutting? Thanks Don

    Welcome I am planning a trip in June up to Traverse City. We spend the first night or two in Saginaw and do a little shopping etc. Do you know if there any places in your neck of the woods that sell hardwoods that can be used for scroll patterns? I was hoping to find some 1/2 inch in walnut, cherry, or similar. Thanks Don in Broolkin On

    Brand new to scrolling. Just got my EX-21 the week before last and ready to learn. Member fo the Durham Woodworking club where I got the bug. Don McFarland
