Also a fan of Star Trek. TZ came pretty much out of the same era. This game is offered purely as a fun project for the scroll sawyer and does not necessarily mean I favor the work of "the devil." Perhaps I should have put a moose's head on the spring. I don't have any problem with anyone using my patterns to make the projects and then selling them, but I do prefer that the pattern itself remain for personal use and not be sold on the internet or anywhere else. Happy cutting. And stay safe. Al B.

Fortune Teller Game Pattern Well, who doesn't like a good game or story with the Devil as the featured character? One of my favorite Twilight Zone stories was called Nick of Time. A young couple go into a cafe and find a fortune telling machine disguised as a napkin holder. To make a long story short, the male of the team becomes addicted to the answers the machine gives him, almost to the point of signing away his life. This little game, which you can make on your scroll saw isn't as detailed as the one in the story, but it might be fun to ask it questions you have in mind. If you want you can even make this into a napkin holder and keep it on your dinner table for sideline entertainment. Download the pattern and check out the explanation video.

Been experimenting with things that can be compound cut. Here's something that might be useful for various projects if you need to get a handle on it. Download Pattern from Free Pattern Page

Not too fond of snails -- the real thing -- but if you look at them through the eye of an artist they are kind of cute, hauling the shell all over the place. Stewy isn't as handsome or colorful as Turbo, from the kids movie of the same name, but he can be just as fun to play with. Cut him out of 1/4" - 1/2" birch ply. Take Stewy apart and he sort of becomes a humpty -dumpty of snaildome. See if you can put him back together again. Most young children will love to try. They might also like to color or paint his parts. Download this free PDF pattern

Glad to hear you are happy with it. Nice present. I like the way it rolls around.

I think this might brighten up anyone's life. Thanks for the comment. Al B.

Here's a rather inexpensive little gift you can make for mom. It's my design for a table top lantern, lit by a tealight candle or by a free flashlight you can get from Harbor Freight. These are usually offered as freebies with purchases. DO NOT USE A REAL BURNING CANDLE. This is wood and you know what happens to wood when fire meets it. There are three different patterns in the ebook, I only cut out the first. I lined the inside of each panel with some regular printing paper to diffuse the light and just glued the panels together. You could make a top or bottom for it if you like. Free patterns and project on my FREE PATTERN page.

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I have just the gift you can cut for her -- a nice thick MOTHER puzzle. This would look great displayed on a shelf or table, and it's fun to play with too. I cut mine out of 3/4" cherry and coated it with a clear spray. Sure to make mother smile. Also check out the Special Sale I'm holding for Mother's Day patterns. Free Pattern Page

My mistake. I thought yesterday was Earth Day, but it is today, so I offer another plant sign for your garden this summer. Nothing like a nice juicy tomato out of your garden. Puts those winter ones to shame. Download this free PDF pattern

Simulated War Cannon Model Patterns and Instructions

Thank you, Danny. Glad you are enjoying them. -
"Step back about 6 feet, please." Seems to be the general feeling today due to Covid 19. Who would have thought that we would be in such a situation. Here's a little sign that future generations can look back on as a reminder when asked "Do you remember what year that virus flipped the world upside down?" We won't soon forget 2020. Simulated War Cannon Model Patterns and Instructions
baggetta replied to baggetta's topic in Bragging Rights
Quite the predicament. Maybe you could add a tall pedestal to the center of the board and put the cannon on top. In any event, enjoy your work and stay safe. Al B. -
"Cannon to the right of them Cannon to the left of them Cannon in front of them Volleyed and thundered; Stormed at with shot and shell...." Every school child was bombarded with these poetry lines by Tennyson in school. The power of the military cannon was most important in war times past. Thought I would try to replicate a model of the old war cannons -- or at least come close. Here's my stab at it. I cut the cannon itself from a piece of 2 x 4 cut to size so that I could do a compound cut using my scroll saw. The wheels were also cut on the scroll saw and attached with a dowel to a platform, to which the cannon is glued. Well I won't go into detail, because it's all in the free pattern sheets.

Earth Day 50th Anniversary Wall Sign Pattern Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries. Here's a nice little wall sign you can put up as you try to save the Earth. Could also be made into a table top sign. Free Pattern

You can wish upon a star, or if you are a beach person you can wish upon a Starfish, as this sign suggests. Makes a nice decoration for the beach cottage. Free Pattern

Not nitpickin' You are right. Apparently I had a moment of dyslexia and switched the letters. Very observant of you. But I've fixed the pattern so it should be ok. Thanks for letting me know. Al B.

Here is another hopeful sign rooted in the scriptures. Many people seem to like these and one can understand why these days. This would make a nice stand up sign or hanging sign.Download Free Pattern

Thanks. Thought this might make an interesting puzzle. Would probably be nice if some artist out there painted it to really look like a Lady Bug.
-
Here are 5 facts about Lady Bugs 1) Ladybugs are a type of beetle. 2) Some ladybugs have no spots and others have up to 20 spots. 3) To help defend themselves, ladybugs play dead. They also can release a yellow fluid that other bugs find stinky. 4) The color of the ladybug sends off the message to its predators that it may taste bad or be poisonous. 5) Ladybugs cluster together as a way to “deter predators by increasing the concentration of their smell and their warning coloration. Now that you know something about Lady Bugs, here is a simple puzzle your children or grand children might enjoy piecing together (after you dazzle them with your knowledge). I cut mine from 1/4" birch plywood. It's a flat puzzle so lay it on a flat surface when assembling. Free Pattern

Candle Cage Pattern Project Here's a nice little project you can make from scrap wood you have lying around. It makes a nice gift. Add a battery candle and you have the soft candle light reflecting off the wood. You can attach a thread of wire to the top so you can hang it, make a wooden base for it, or just place it on a table and watch the flickering. If you do decidee to make this only use the battery candles. DO NOT USE A REAL CANDLE. This is wood and it could be very dangerous. I've also put the pattern in to make a round candle cage. Haven't done it, but you might want to give it a try. This is an easy project; took me about 20 minutes to cut and assemble. I put together an assembly video to show you how this thing goes together. It is available on my YouTube channel. Free pattern on my Free Pattern Page

Well, I can give it a try. No charge, if I succeed. send it along to me at [email protected]. Al B.

I recently completed a collection of large dog breed puzzles. The Purina company says that despite their size, most big dog breeds are incredibly agile and active, but others are more laidback. Whether you want a running or hiking partner or prefer a big fluffy dog breed to snuggle with, you can find the right large dog breed for you. Well, here's the Schnauzer you can make into a puzzle on your scroll saw.Download Free Pattern

This is a little bit different take on puzzle making. Usually you have to make sure your blade is 90 deg. to the table so that the pieces don't come out disfigured. Well, here we use a purposeful disfigurement to make the puzzle more challenging. You can make this more complex if you like, but I demonstrate the technique on this simple puzzle in a video on my YouTube Channel. I call it Double Trouble because you not only have to figure out where the pieces join, but also if they might join by sliding the piece in from the Top or Bottom. I cut mine from 1/2" MDF but you can use regular wood also. Free Pattern

Here's a nice little sign you might like to cut for yourself. Makes a nice hanging sign, but it can also be used as a wall or door sign. Might also make a nice gift for a woodworking friend. It's about 10" wide and about 8" tall. I cut mine from a scrap piece of 1/2" plywood and added a plane cut from Padauk. I made a brief video showing some of the process I used in designing and making this sign. You can view it on my YouTube channel Free Pattern

So this is where we are. Having to avoid each other because of Covid-19. Well, we all have to try to be safe so I guess for a while we'll have to keep our distance with maybe an elbow bump once in a while. Here's a sign as a reminder. I cut mine from oak plywood and mounted it on the off cut for a base. I can only wonder if someone generations from now happens upon this message what he/she will think. Free Pattern
