  1. Here is the project that we made for our booth at the Midwest Trade Show. http://www.midwesttradeshow.com We were not able to attend last year due to medical problems but are looking forward to seeing and talking with everyone this year. The flag is Aspen and colored with food color. The stars were cut out and then filled in with fabric paint (liquid inserts). The flag could be made with Aspen, Blue Pine and Redheart and the stars cut from Aspen and inserted into the cutouts. The soldier’s uniforms are WRC and the black component is made with a Sharpie. We added depth to the piece and the highest point on the soldier is ¾â€ above the flag. We hope to see you all at the show. Homer & Carol http://www.theartfactory.com
  2. In the next magazine of Creative Woodworks & Crafts (http://www.woodworksandcrafts.com) we have a project called Star Light. The project is a fret project and incorporates a battery light unit. The unit has three lights (red, green, and blue) and switches from one to the other. For a brief period there are two lights on together thus making a different color all together. The sides and top are cut out and covered with paper to afford a very colorful display. The top has a large glass diamond that reflects the colors to the ceiling of the room. If you would like to see it in action there is a short video on the Creative Woodworks & Crafts web site. The direct link to the video is http://www.woodworksandcrafts.com/videos/star_light.mov We hope you enjoy this short video and we thank the people from the magazine for posting it. 3. The best blades I have ever used are skip tooth blades from BVDIRECT They are Scroll America Blades 1-800-220-1152 For most jobs PB02,PB04 or PB07 will do the trick They are only $1.95 a dozen and I would put them up against any blade even the ground teeth blades. 4. I don't know if they use pallets for shipping in your area but if they do you can sometimes find some wonderful hardwood in them. I have found Walnut and Mahogany in some. Give it a try!!! Homer & Carol www.theartfactory.com
  5. Thanks for the comments. The project was in the shop when I posted it so here are the stats: The overall size is 12†X 12†and the Kestrel is 10†tall. We used Yellowheart, Redheart, Aspen, Ebonized Walnut, Western Red Cedar, Padauk, Blue Pine, Oak, and Osage for the project. The black spots were drawn on with a marker after a light coat of finish to stop it from migration with the grain. The same was done in white on the tail. Homer & carol www.theartfactory.com
  6. Here is one we just got finished with. Homer & Carol http://www.theartfactory.com
