  1. Nice cutting. I have trouble with the 3/0, have not given up but prefer the #1 FDNS blades.
  2. You have to learn to slow down and let the blade do the cutting. I cut 3/4 puzzles mostly with #3 olson mach speed, prefer the way they turn. I have cut with #1 FDUR, tight fitting, but you have to go slow and wait for the blade to catch up when doing the tight turns on the keys. The easiest way I have found is to pause and let the blade catch up then go slow through the tight turns. Saw is ex 21 and the speed is always wide open. This works for me try it and find what works for you.
  3. That is a good idea scrappy I will have to try that, much cheeper to, thank you
  4. the dewalt has more table infront of the blade than the excaluber to make it easier to scroll most people, including myself, raise the rear or lower the front of the saw. I tried tilting my ex when I first set it up but found it easier to use level. Some ex owners have had a new table top machined that is wider and longer in the front which I am interested in as I like the extra support while working.
  5. Creative woodworks and crafts june 2012 pattern by Diana Thompson
  6. My back up is my type 1, had it from new. Had trouble with the 3/0 on that also. Have no problem with the FD NS 1 up to 3/4 inch just no luck with the 3/0
  7. Nice cutting. I can not get the hang of the 3/0, just keep breaking, I use the # 1. Read of you guys using the 3/0 on 3/4 inch wood what is the secret to not breaking. Using an EX-21.
  8. I found with the olson 2/0 I have to use pliers to straighten the twist or they break or damage the set screws, leading to having to sand them flat agin. You also have to make sure that when you straighten the blades that the straight edge on the top and bottom are in line or you will still have problems clamping. With the FDNS 1 the twist is not as tight and I can just put them on and go no issues.
  9. Thank you for the feedback. Will have to try the blue background I not good with colours. The patterns I like are best done with spirals so I am learning.
  10. looks good thanks for showing
  11. Pattern from Mick Shambro, the lone wolf. Cut from 1/8 bb with FDNS-1 and 0/3 spiral blades. Thanks for looking.
  12. looks good nice choice in the wood.
  13. The older saws have safety equipment that can be a pain to set up and has to be removed for certain operations ie dados. The newer saws have a better system with riving knifes so no excuses. A long with proper safety is state of mind. After an argument with the wife and being a little tired clipped my finger that was 3 months of physical therapy and still doesn't work the same.
  14. As others have said study the pattern and plan your cuts. I will sometimes scotch tape the cut outs in place for support a tip from another scroller. Take your time and things usually work out. Good luck.
  15. Welcome to the forum. I am in Georgetown just a stone throw away currently using a type 1 Dewalt and just setting up an ex21. The Dewalt is a good saw so just find some patterns and give them a try. If you have any questions just ask away lots of help here and enjoy.
