Received my package today: 21' x 6" x 1/4" in 36" lengths of beautiful African Mahogany for my winter project: http://www.finescrollsaw.com/cremona-wall-clock.htm 3' x 6" x 1/8" Cherry and 6' x 6" x 1/4" Cherry to finish the Bell Tower Clock I have been working on..... Beautiful wood.... all nicely milled and cut to my specified lengths. This is my second order and I really like what I have received from Cherokee Woods.... and so far I have had NO CUPPING problem with their wood. Total bill for the wood: $111. Plus $21.92 shipping.... heck, I could not drive to my local store that carries hardwood, for s little less than that, but I would have to mill what I bought from them.... a lot of waste. Yep, wood is expensive, so I like to buy where I am getting what I pay for. This is NOT A PAID ADVERTISEMENT. I'm just a happy customer...

My brother gave me the scraps from when he had his kitchen counters done. He showed the guy that did the counter tops the pen I made and the guy wanted to have me make pens from other jobs he got to give to his customers as a thank you for doing business with him. The pens would match the material from each job. We could not work it out though. Some how he thought my time and labor wasn't worth even a fraction of what he charged for his work. Just as well, he went out of business shortly after doing my brothers counters. Most people I know got scraps from sellers. Make a pen for them and they would give away all the scraps on could want. It is going in the dumpster anyway.

I scrolled 1/2" once, to make a trivet, maybe got the pattern and idea from the same mag as everyone else. I remember it was not hard at all to cut, but I do not remember what blades I used. They had to have been Flying Dutchman, but I do not remember which. I would guess they were a #5 TC. I also made pens and a small vase out of it on the lathe.

I notice on Seyco's website there is a blurp about why the Seyco tilting is better than the Ex or Pegas saws... That leads me to believe Ray has receive disparaging comments on it. I have to tilt mine one of these days just to see how it works... -

I have had good results staining plywood with a gel stain, from Old Masters or General Finishes. There is also a pre-stain or wood conditioner that can be applied first. I think Minwax sells one. It is suppose to help prevent blotches.... I have not tried it.

Okay.. Here is what would have decided me, had the Pegas been available when I purchased the Seyco.... The Pegas is a around $50 cheaper.....

Tough decision,,,, only you can make. I have had an Excalibur and now a Seyco. I have the Pegas blade clamps,,,,, had them on my Seyco and have changed back to the original clamps.. More people swear by the Pegas clamps so I am very much out voted.... I think I would like the Pegas way of tilting the table better than the Seyco, but I have so far never cut where I need a tilted table. I plan on doing so, but not beyond what my Seyco can tilt. I do love the large table of the Seyco. I love it whole bunch. But the Seyco is not as pretty as the Pegas..... Oh, my it is a tough decision. I was lucky, the Pegas saw was not available when I purchased my Seyco.... I really don't know which I would have ended up with. Good luck....

I only use the #3PMG when cutting 1/2" or thicker... and then not for detailed fret work.. Too aggressive for me. Good blade no doubt, but aggressive. I use their #3 Reverse Skip often though... I really like it. Not quite as aggressive, but cuts very clean.

Reminds me of Winnie the Pooh bear. Great job. I always had a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh. When I was in second or third grade, my teacher read Winnie the Pooh stories to us. A lot! Don't think he taught us much,,,, but I bet every on in the class remembers Winnie the Pooh. Nice scrolling...

well done for sure. Someone else did this one recently. Trust me... you can never have too many patterns... I have bought at least 25 since last New Years when I announce my New Years Resolution,,,,: No more Patterns in 2019...!
