  1. Kevin, you have stated that you have read "quite a few Bad reports" about the "New" Excalibur. What bad have you heard? I am just curious, I am not in the market for any new saw, but I like to follow them. The only bad I have read isabout right out of the box set up/adjustments. But I do not think that is a flaw in the saw, that is a flaw in the seller. You don't have the Seyco pre-test and setup you use to get with Excalibur. Are there other difficulties with it?
  2. He talks like there are many new things on this saw. It is an Excalibur and most features are the same. The dust collection is the same as the Ex came with, and most people removed in a short time. Little pieces of waste get caught in the clear plastic membrane and plugs it. And, when I saw, most of the dust is on top, which if you use the blower, it get blown away. That is not dust extraction... I am a little more disappointed in Mr. Good's review than the saw. I have a lot of respect for Steve, but this time I felt like I was watching a sales promotion other than a review. A person new to scrolling may get the impression this saw has a lot of new features, when the only new thing is the clamps. But that said, I am sure it is a great saw, just like the Ex has been. The clamps appear to be an upgrade from the old style, maybe someday I will get a set for my Seyco. I do love the color. I wish they had increased the table to size like the Seyco.
  3. Those are really beautiful.
  4. VERY NICE LOOKING.
  5. Thanks guys. I was just looking around the internet. I think if I have some extra time next week I will do this one!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! http://scrollsawer.com/2009/09/02/the-declaration-of-independence/
  6. Really very nice. She will love that.
  7. This is one I started early last Spring. Then in June, my eyes got so bad I had to quit scrolling all together. Finally got my eyes fixed in October, in December I got back to being able to actually scroll again. Completed it today. It measures 31" x 24". 21 lines of text. The hardest part of the whole project it gluing those lines of text to the board. This may be going to a Church in Memphis, Tennessee. If that doesn't work out I will try to donate it to something...
  8. That is beautiful!! Great bowl all the way around.
  9. Does look good... But for me,,,, not into women's dress designs. I wonder what a porpoise or whale would look like splashing up out of the middle of those napking....Maybe a rocket taking off with a red napkin "flame" coming out the bottom... or....dragster.... Seriously, looks very good Foxfold.
  10. People balk at paying $500+ for a scroll saw. It they add what you all want, a cheap saw will start at that price, the middle price saws will be close to Hegner, Hawk prices and who knows what Hegner and Hawk will cost. It is not expensive to add good dust extraction, PVC pipe is cheap. Personally I'd rather add my own. It works good and did not cost me much other that the vac and I need a vac in the shop anyway, so the cost for it doesn't count. My dust collector, as most has 4" hoses, and to neck that down to a 2" or smaller, it does not work to good. I know I tried it. It is made for 4" pipe. Okay I do not know a lot about dust collectors so maybe there is a way to do it. I'm just saying on a scroll saw,,,, you want to pay more for them?? What the manufactures make available is what they think will sell and they will make a profit. For all but maybe Hawk, Hegner, and PS, it is not a big ticket item. They sell lots more of there other equipment. In the great world of wood tools,,, scroll saw it not a big selling item... we are the minority in the wood working world. Just my opinion.
  11. I used a lot of pill bottles for that also.
  12. Those are really well done.
  13. Ahhh, think "bookmark". Then you do not have to search and look through pages, well only once anyway..... just saying..
  14. You certainly did a great job on that and the second set of horses really improves it. I will be making one pretty soon. I love to do these kinds of projects as fillers or diversions from bigger projects.
  15. My wife and I share space for our hobbies. I get one room in the house for my woodworking she gets the rest of the HOUSE for her quilting!!
  16. Same thing with my dust collection setup. The suction noise is annoying. I am wondering if a larger opening at the end that sucks the dust would help. Problem is I don't want to quit working projects long enough to play with it to find out!
  17. Well done Dick. Looks real nice.
  18. Very well done. I like that pattern and you did a great cutting of it.
  19. That must feel good. You did a great job.
  20. I was thinking about this, no stationary tool I have actually provides dust collection, well, except for my dust collector. They all, including my scroll saws, provide ports or some means to hook up to a dust collector. Me thinks you all want too much....... oh, now I am in trouble! ,
  21. You really did a nice job cutting that one...
  22. Nicely done. I've decided not to make any of these. I do not have any friends sophisticated enough to appreciate them! Well except for @heppnerguy, and he can make his own.
  23. Oh, well,,,,,, none.
  24. Now it is time to get back to real work but, I had so much fun building the first nutcracker, I had to do another. This one is 25% larger, so it is big brother meets little brother. I was kind of proud of the paint job on this one. I added more to it because he is older big brother, he has more glitz. I figured out how to do the round eyes. Take a small pencil eraser and dab it in paint than on the face. Same with the button, sand down a pencil eraser and dab. So the fun is over. Got to do some more serious projects.
