  1. Dick, great job!! make sure you get a picture of it painted and done to show.
  2. GrampaJim has what I had stored away. Stoney's mods. I came close to doing them. The Hegner took me a while to get the hang of and many emails to Advanced Machinery. But all of a sudden we fell in sync and I would not part with my Hegner, unless I had do quite scrolling all together. I like it just as it is and am so comfortable with it now that I have decided I don't need to make any mods to it.
  3. Here is what I made, very simple and works well. I have found that by cutting some angled wedges and stops and taping them to the sled, I can use it to cut other than 45' with good accuracy also
  4. The wixey gauge comes on the Seyco and you can easily remove it and put it back on. I use mine on the table saw mostly, may use it on the Seyco when I do inlay.
  5. Not my kind of picture, but great job of cutting and finishing. What are you building for a table saw miter sled?
  6. Jim, I'm not quite sure what you are wanting. I'm sure the saw can be adjusted to any degree between 0' - 45' by turning the knob. In the picture, you can get an idea of where the stops are by the holes in the front plate. Looks like 22.5, 30 and 45, which are good stops for a table saw, but not a lot of use on scroll saw. Seyco does have some little things you can slid in the slot and set a stop if there is a degree you use often. But I like the rack and pinion type adjuster better as opposed to hand pushing the head to a degree.
  7. When I purchased my new Ex, the dust collection they had came off shortly after the hold down thingy. Steve Good needs to use the Pegas dust collection while cutting something that has little pieces coming off, like intricate scroll work. I think his praise for it might change. But of the four like saws, Excalibur, King, Seyco and now Pegas, I think my money if I had any would got to the Pegas, based on price, the better clamps and the pretty red color!
  8. Very well done Steve. Looks like fun making and fun playing.
  9. I think that is an awesome cutting, may have to drag out the mag and do it. My wife loves crab, so much so that is what I gave her for a Christmas present a couple years ago. The butcher thought it was a crazy Christmas present, but my wife loved it.
  10. CANDY!!!
  11. I agree with all the above. Great job!
  12. Heads up on Hegner, if you order a new one it will be there in short order and you will get great help from the seller if you need it....... The Hegner is to expensive for me to recommend one. I love mine and if I find the right buy I will get a second one and sell my Seyco. But anything over $5, I don't give a recommendation.. but I do love mine,, no recommendation, I just really like mine, but you decide for yourself, no matter now much I love mine...... Seriously, I know of people that do not like them at all, I think they must weird... but they don't like them.
  13. Looks great, Denny. Nice to see you posts again.
  14. Okay @meflick there you go being practical,,,, just like a woman...
  15. I vote for the 2" and reducing the diameter of the circle it is put on a little, or not.....
  16. Okay, I watched the video, Seyco came up with the magnetic top, it is standard on their saws. It is not zero clearance, but I say that is the bases for this tip....I will say, I did not care for the magnetic top, not sure why, but I gave mine away. I have heard other Seyco owners like it. But more importantly, that little hole will not stay little for long. I use zero clearance on my saws. I have learned that the little hole gets enlarged by the blade movement and blade breakage, and forgetting to set the tension before starting the saw.... That is why I built my aux, table tops so I can use inserts that I can make and change out as I wear the old ones out. I do not have to pay +/- $20 for a new magnetic top. Attaching the top is easy, on this type saw, four counter sunk holes, using the original screws that hold the real table on. Some just use double sided tape to hold the aux top on. That seem to work good. You can see by the picture how the hole get enlarged after some use.
  17. The older Excaliburs didn't have the stops a popular angles? I had one but can't remember. I really don't see that as big deal, I like the turning the knob to move the head, but on inlay and such the degree will very with the stock and the thickness of wood. And it is a very shallow degree. What degrees on a scroll saw do you use often that stops would be a good thing? Not trying to be smart, I just got to thinking about it and I am drawing a blank. But, I am very anxious for this saw. Swiss have a reputation of good products and I think they will demand a high standard from whomever is actually making the saws for them. Do they farm their clamps out to be made by someone else..? Anyway, I'm anxious to read reviews, by actual scrollers. I think they will be good. @Dave Monk will tell us straight! If I had the money/space, I order one.
  18. I've used to for a sacrificial backer while scrolling, but I don't see that it would work for the main piece. What I used splintered badly.
  19. After reading Bill's response and going back and looking at your box, I am going at the wrong thing. I thought you were worrying gluing the sides together but looks like there are only horizontal joints,,,, correct? Not angle joints.. I would make myself a bowl press, if I were to make many of these types of boxes. The strap clamp and corner pieces would help keep the pieces aligned as you apply downward pressure.
  20. Okay, I had to look up cauls. I guess I use them also, just didn't know what they were called. I also saw some pictures of new born babies and learned something there I didn't know!! I think this is a great idea because the "cauls" are so easy to make and they would, I think, work on different angles other than just a 45'.
  21. Pretty cool, great color. It is also nice that there are so many of this style saw on the market you buy by choosing a color. I wonder if one of the manufactures will eventually offer several different colors..... @meflick Hegner is orange.....
  22. Clamping is hard and frustrating. I have several jigs, but none really make it easier. I am going to get a strap clamp one of these days and try it. Lately I have been using Titebond Quick and thick glue. It is very tacky and just holding it in place for around20 seconds it set enough that I can then add clamps. The more I us it the more I like it, and it dries clear. However, I have not used it long enough to know how good it holds long term. Ask me again in a couple years. That is a beautiful box, Dave. You always set the bar so high.
  23. Great job!
  24. Excellent on all facets, cutting, finishing and framing. The cat does look like he/she is ready to pounce.
  25. Well, @rdatelle, Ralph, I got started on this project about 4 day ago. It goes on and on and on...... I borrowed you four horse ideal and I am doing some other little miner changes as I go. I am enjoying it but there are many more pieces to it than I thought. I have pretty well cleaned out my pile of scrap 1/8" BB. Great way to get rid of a bunch of odd shaped scrapes.
