  1. Ha, you got my attention!! I have looked at that clock for a couple years, thinking how great it would be hanging in my grandson's bedroom! I know it would drive his parents crazy! Please to it!!
  2. Well there is always a hand crank street organ.. The project that stretched me the most, but worth all the work. You could incorporate lots of scroll work in the case, I did a little on the back of mine, it was built before I really got into scrolling, if I made another, it would have a lot more scrolling on it. There are also lots of beautiful wooden gear clocks or sculptures. I've been real tempted to do the Humming bird one, but the plans are $100. Too expensive for me right now, but it certainly would be a challenge. http://www.derekhugger.com/colibri.html These are for you to think about, personally, with some of the things in my life lately,,,, I want less stress, so mine will be simple things. I want to work on things like some nice Christmas ornamentals to give to family and friends next season. I have a few more difficult things in mind I'd like to try for me and my ego, but at this point in my life, and the stressful environment of things, I want to just relax, keep it simple and give where I can. This may all change,,,,,,, I do like a challenging project and the heck with the family and friends....
  3. I went back and looked at the brad point bits, the good ones I have, and I do have a 5/64. It is a tiny fella..... I save these bits for when I need a very precise, clean hole. For the little holes in patterns to stick the blade through I now buy from D and D. They are the best I have found, in that they have very little wobble, (they are straight). They are a "Mascot" brand.
  4. Welcome for a somewhat older man. Glad to have you here. I wax the table tops and all my tools about 3 time a year. It helps protect the tops from rust and stain, and makes them slick, easier to move wood on. I use Johnson Paste Wax, which is one of the more popular ones used. DO NOT use a wax that has silicone in it. The silicone gets on the wood and it will not take finish well.
  5. Congratulations I see your rendition posted on Sheila Landry's site. I like it better than the sectioned one.
  6. I have put an auxiliary table on every scroll saw I have owned, except for my first two Had I had more experience when I owned them, I would have put auxiliary tables on them also.
  7. Really turned out nice. I need to add that to my Nativity patterns collection.
  8. Very nice work, Dan.
  9. Beautiful song, brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. You did a great job on the plaque.
  10. What parts exactly did you spray it on?
  11. Well, I am enjoying seeing it. That is amazing!
  12. Crazy cool! I may have to try that one. Nice job.
  13. Very beautiful basket. Thanks for sharing it.
  14. Glad to have you join us. I look forward to seeing your fret work.
  15. You got through it and survived, that is good. Nicely done coffee sign.
  16. You must be proud of how well you cut the delicate pieces, and you have not been at it that long. Those are really well done.
  17. My wife's an my first dog, which I got for her at the pound for $1 and he came with 2 cans of dog food!!!! He was a mix cocker/poodle. Actually a great dog, but he was really into anything that resembled a ball. When we had our first Christmas tree with him, he could not be trusted to not go after the pretty balls hanging on the tree. One day the temptation over came him. He grabbed one of the ornaments and headed for the front door, it was open, but the glass storm door wasn't! He went right through the glass!! No one was hurt, well maybe his pride a little, and his bottom,,,,,,
  18. Well,, now there is always..... the SHOCK COLLAR!! Never...
  19. Lab, isn't it? Take heart they grow out of that..... hope she is still a puppy. A real good gift for your wife, is get her into puppy training with her dog.. We have a facility in our area that holds training classes for puppy and owner. It also goes through several level of dog/owner training. My wife took our Standard Poodle through the puppy training and it was great fun for both her and the puppy. My Lab, that I got at 14 months old had been through it. He is the most obedient dog I have ever owned, and I have had three Dobermans, they are obedient, but this Lab, now 18 months is really awesome. Calm, gentle, loyal, always wanting to please dog. He is still a puppy in Lab life, but just a great dog. Part of that is the training of the owner and dog, together. Check it out, maybe there is something similar in your area.
  20. That is a real cute one and your wife will love it. Must be some kind of small eye screw you could use. Maybe in a jewelry section of a hobby store, or make a wire one and glue it in a drilled hole...
  21. If I were to drag one around, I'd look for a used 16" Ex or new 16" King. I'd really look for a small used 14" Hegner, but you specified top feed. That little Hegner, though would take the beating of being dragged around....
  22. My first hanging Christmas ornament. This is a FREE Sue Mey pattern that I have wanted to try for some time. I stack cut 2 out of scrap mahogany. Thought I would try some painting of one to see how it would look. It is about 6" x 6", and I reduced it to 75% of the original size. Still a little big for a tree ornament maybe, depending on the tree. My wife is going to hang it with her Christmas reef. It was a tedious cut at this size. Not sure I could accomplish it any smaller.
  23. Great job! Your wife will be very pleased..
  24. Nice lamp and I bet it was fun to make. Great job.
