  1. Maybe I missed hitting "save"
  2. Because these kinds of lighted things are so neat and fun I knew someone would ask. But I edited my post above, the second link was incorrect. I had the same link in both places.... No such thing as two many dogs.......
  3. Super job on the cutting!
  4. I do not like making frames either. Not sure why, but I don't. One way I get around it is to cut the picture into a 3/8" or 1/2" board. But before cutting I route the side of the board to give it more of a frame finish look. Example:
  5. Very nice cutting. I use spiral blades when I feel they are appropriate. When I do use them I use the Flying Dutchman 3/0 New Spiral blade, most. My second favorite one is the 2/0 Pegas spiral. Both are small blades. I use them when a board is too long to turn on my saw. When I can, I turn the board in the direction I am cutting just as I do with a flat blade. I have better control that way. In the places the board can't be turned I than cut with all directions with the blade. I also use the spiral in very delicate work because I can use it sorta like a file and carefully cut/file wood away. They are also very good for "veining" because they make a little wider kerf than a flat blade. To me they are another tool. They have their place and it is well worth it to me, to be able to use them. Takes a little practice, is all.
  6. Couple places to get some in the U.S. : The ones here were designed by Helmut, He use to be a member here and passed away a couple years ago. http://schwibbogenbyhelmut.weebly.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html This is where I purchased the pattern for the one I did: http://woodyoubelieveshop.blogspot.com/p/patterns-on-cd.html These are done by a person named Volker from Germany. He has his own website also, but I can't read German.
  7. Yours look very pretty. This is the only one I have. Would like to make more....
  8. I would not toss that one. You could cut the part off that holds the clock, cut a new one and glue it to the base. You have plenty of meat there to glue to the sailor to the base base. Coarse this is almost as much work as starting over, but would save some of it. The base and clock could even be a contrasting pieces of wood.
  9. That is very cute!
  10. There are lots of good free patterns right here on this site. More than I could ever cut...
  11. Jon, I think you did a super job on both design and cutting... Wonderful portrait.
  12. Really some very nice work!!
  13. Please do come back. I'm sure you will be more than welcome.
  14. You did a supper job of it!
  15. A very fine piece of work. Could add one more block to the bottom, that says "Semper Fi".
  16. That is a great job! Any idea what bird that is? Is it native to here or the UK?
  17. Very nice work.
  18. Which ever you choose, can't you just cut the backer a little larger than the piece and glue the piece to it. That would give you the border.
  19. Great cutting and finishing...
  20. One of my favorite patterns. Been thinking of cutting it again one day when the right piece wood comes along.
  21. I see it as a little gamble either way. On some very delicate pieces, I have broken things when moving back and forth between saw and drill press.. I am sort of a klutz to begin with.
  22. How could you not have a great day, with a cute little helper like that!!
  23. Personally, I do both. Some times I drill all the holes.. sometimes I get tired of drilling and stop that and scroll a while then drill some more... I have created colanders before and probably will again! Goes with the hobby.
  24. Very nice!
