Sounds just like what I do! even down to the cheap icepick. lol Looks like i need to get some pegas blades though. I usually just have Molson as that's what's easily available in my area.

What blade are you using for the compound cuts?

I have made more of the Jesus fish than I can count. My cousin who got me started scrolling made the pattern. And whenever there is a benefit in my area I will donate a cubs or cards plaque if they are having a silent auction so I've made quite a few of those. Being in central Illinois they usually do quite well. One year I was even able to meet Mike Matheny (former Cardinal manager) and get an autographed one to auction off.

I picked one up yesterday. My Delta 21 inch is crashing out (again!) and I'm tired of messing with it. Figure if I'm going to get cheap Chinese tools I might as well pay cheap Chinese prices instead of Delta's inflated price. I've cut for about an hour with this and so far it's doing pretty well. It's quieter than the Delta for sure. The on /off switch being behind the speed control is unusual. It is also taking some getting to used to for the lift arm release. The delta I had to push the button when I lifted it, then just pop it and it would drop back down. The Bauer works in reverse. Just push the arm up and it catches then pull the ring and it drops down. With the longer front on the table it puts that ring a ways towards the back. I have long arms and it still can be an issue with a larger piece. I just tied a wire to the ring and mounted it to where it can be pulled from close by. Feels like a solid saw The body is pressed steel instead of mostly cast but the vibration seems to be minimal. Thanks all for the kind words. Denny a friend of mine was a state wrestler in high school as well. He hated when we would square up because even though we weighed the same I was about a foot taller and was used to wrestling my 60 pound heavier (all muscle) five year older than me brother. He never could tie me up. Would always say "Damn it's like trying to wrestle wet spaghetti with how long your arms and legs are." (I'm 6'6")

Did up this hanger for a friend's son. 1/2 inch birch ply. 19 inches tall. I added another strip to the back of the areas where the medals will hang just to make sure it doesn't sag over time. Used a French cleat setup for mounting. Glued and screwed that in for reinforcement. Having it bumped out like that also had the unintended benefit of making it easier to hang the medals without having to take the whole thing down to add another one.

French Script MT is Word is the font. "Bold" was on for it. Yes it does a funny slash to make the cross of the T's LOL

#7 reverse tooth. May not have been the best choice but it's what I had.

Olson #5 reverse tooth. That's my go to general purpose blade. Roughly 20 inches wide as well.

A friend had me make some atomic stars for her a couple years ago. I noticed the pattern laying around and figured I could make it into a 3-D ornament. Here's the result.

Yes Thurman, each word cut out then glued to the backer. The stain color is called Briarsmoke btw. I had to look it up as well.

Customer requested this verse and "something pretty in the corner."

Thanks everyone. I've been trying an Olson #7 reverse tooth and usually just old bits of 2X4 cut down to 1 1/14. I don't use clamps just hold the piece. Usually it's long enough that I don't have issues hanging onto it. Just curious what everyone else was doing for things like this! Thanks again for all the info.

Hello all, I've been trying my hand at 3-D cuts (ornaments and such) and am wondering what type of wood, blades etc everyone is using. All I have right now is some pine from 2x4's that I trim down to use. I've never tried balsa wood but I can't help but feel that it might work better and cut easier.

Rodney, I basically would cut from an outside corner, where the leaf tip met the rim, down until the leaf meets stem then back up and cut the rim to the other leaf tip then go from there. Kept me from making that turn that put the piece against the back of the saw.

Customer asked for a big tree of life pattern. Found this one as a black and white free image. Liked it so much she ordered four of them! 22 inches wide. 1/2 inch birch ply. #5 reverse tooth

A friend asked me to make an urn for their mother's cremains. They will bury the urn in the casket with their father who has now passed. She picked a pattern from etsy (i think) and sent it to me. Building the urn itself was pretty straightforward but I was a bundle of nerves cutting this thin of a piece, especially the wing sections. Over all the box is 8 inches wide and 6 tall. Used a #2 reverse tooth. Solid maple for the construction as well as the cut. Planed the board to just under 1/2 an inch for the cut and inserts. Red mahogany stain on the insets top and bottom. They had the brass plate made and I also attached that. The name is blocked for family privacy.

Not really sure how long this one took me. Worked on it over two different days. I am fairly positive it took longer to get put back together and lined up than it did to cut out though. 1/2 inch birch ply top and backer. #5 olson reverse tooth.
