  1. Well darn! Thanks anyway. Wonderful cutting btw. Realized I forgot to mention that!
  2. I would love to get a copy of this pattern. I looked at his page but didn't find it. How can I purchase this pattern?
  3. Found a pattern for this photo awhile back and decided to use it to dust off my scroll saw. (it's been slacking lately) With everything going on I haven't had much time in the shop. Took a few hours but I think it turned out great.
  4. I tried that and it worked great until the heat cured the top layer of resin faster than what was under it so the bubbles got stuck under the top layer. Either way I learned and it all turned out great!
  5. I think that's going to be my next resin project. He'll just have to provide the corks. That will take multiple layers of very thin coats to avoid bubbles though.
  6. It was a learning experience to say the least. I watched a ton of Youtube vids on it. Still screwed up the first pour and had to sand out multiple bubbles in the first one I did. I discovered that the middle board of the smaller piece (the one that says Fantesca) was extremely porous and the resin bubbled like crazy. I poured way too thick on that. Took my time and made small amounts for the second one, just barely enough to cover the surface each time. Rubbing each layer in while wearing rubber gloves until it was thick enough and hardened so that I could do a full pour without worrying about the wood sucking more of it up and creating more bubbles. All in all I'd do it again though, they were fantastic when done. The picture really doesn't do them justice.
  7. Very Beautiful piece!! Thanks for sharing!
  8. Not scroll saw work but wanted to brag a bit. Customer asked if I could make him some cutting boards using wooden wine crates that he had collected. Cut and put them together in a puzzle style. He didn't want them to actually cut on them but more to hold limes, and glasses and such. More as a serving tray I suppose. He asked for just clear coat but I was worried the lime juice would eat right through normal poly so I recessed the wine box boards about a quarter inch and filled it in with food safe resin. The backsides are usable as cutting boards. One is straight oak the other is oak and cherry alternating. All of the wood was reclaimed. Sizes are 18 by 24 and 14 by 18. The 18 by 24 is HEAVY!
  9. Some small thin ornament names for a family member. The font is called soulmate in microsoft word.
  10. Very well done! Nice work indeed!
  11. Customer asked for it to be painted black. Which I did, but I think it like the idea of a red backer much better. Just a little larger and the same outline as the cross.
  12. A new one I tried out.
  13. Very nice! That sloth is adorable!!
  14. Yes they did. I donated this one and ended up with orders for three more for the current coaches and athletic director!!!!
  15. I think they would love one for their favorite teams too! There were volleyball lines on the original as well but i couldn't think how to get the white lines mixed into the blue and make it look right. BTW I had to enlarge the signatures separate of the court as otherwise they would have been too small to cut out.
  16. Of course, happy to provide more info. The backboard is all blue. Foul lines, three point line "the lane" lines, and signatures are all cut through the top board. The white letters are individually cut out, painted and glued back on to the backboard. The stained area is cut out completely, stained, then glued back in. All in 1/2 in birch ply. total size is 3 feet wide by just under two foot high. That was the worst part, figuring out how to cut the surround off in one piece as it was too big to do on the scroll saw. Ended up laying it on the table saw and raising the blade into it, running almost to the corners then finished it off with the scroll saw. Once that was off the rest went pretty easy. If I'd thought about it my jigsaw would have been perfect. Kind of a "Well Duh" moment on that one.
  17. Nice work. Love the interlocked rings
  18. Local college asked me to recreate their basketball court for a tribute to the man who it's named after.
  19. Looks great! I know how it goes with the silver paint! Always looks drab in photos.
  20. Just plain ole' half inch birch ply.
  21. Very nice!
  22. Looks great! I love the nickel!
  23. Those are fantastic! Well done!
  24. That jealous place that drags me away from the saw (i.e. work) brought the manager of the St Louis Cardinals to campus. They asked me to do a piece for him to sign and then auction off for a benefit. I made these two,. One to auction and one for him to keep. He loved it. The only fee I asked was to let me get a picture with him.
