  1. I commend you on your second job. Working with anybody who is in need of help is a very good thing and so rewarding. My daughter and her adopted son, our grandson, are working with the homeless people down in L.A.. Our grandson is afflicted with fetal alcohol syndrome. His mother was an alcoholic in Kazakhstan. I have no idea how to spell that.
  2. I don't have a lathe or the desire to make my own clamp screws but I'm totally interested in this thread. I too love to make stuff so it is of interest to me. If I was younger, I might have to buy a small metal lathe but I have no room and another learning curve may not be in my lifetime.
  3. Not to hijack this thread but a question for those of you who are following this thread. I'm toying with the purchase of the Carter guide system. Not the stabilizer but the guides. I'd like to know who has them, what you think of them and would you recommend that I buy a set? Please, don't just say I need them because you bought them. I want to know if they improved your saw and would you buy them again? My saw cuts pretty well now with the stock guide system but I'd like to improve it if possible. Thanks.
  4. Very nice. I'm going to give it a try on my saw. I have resawed before but it was on my true Delta bandsaw. This one is a Chinese Delta but it seems to do everything I ask it to do.
  5. Do you resaw with it?
  6. Exactly my magnetic fence works. Totally adjustable.
  7. For a standard 14" bandsaw a 1/2" is the max recommended.
  8. I bought a couple of bar magnets from H/F when they were on sale. I'm going to make a low fence and a tall fence. When they are stuck to the table, they don't move and easily removed when not needed.
  9. Les, if you are as deaf as you say you are, why would you need to cancel any noise? You can hear it so why cancel it?
  10. I went to Amazon and typed in diamond files. I found nothing in that price range.
  11. Les, when you go to Amazon and find the ones you bought, go up to the address bar, click on it and then right click. It will give you an option to copy. So copy it and then go to this place on SSV and right click again. This time, instead of copy, hit paste. That will place the link where you want it.
  12. I think I see a dead horse. Let's beat him.
  13. I wear hearing aids that amplify everything except the human voice. I can hear an ant fart at 40 yards but I can't hear my wife sitting next to me. And it's not Selective Hearing. My hearing is actually still very good but she insisted that I get them so I could hear her. Didn't work. When in the shop, I don't wear anything to protect my hearing. I did everything possible to ruin my hearing. I have tinnitis in both ears. But, I still hear very well. The hearing aids were a waste of $2800.
  14. Les. can you supply a link?
  15. I can't believe how much adhesive ya'll use. I've still got my first can of 77. I did use up a small can of Elmer's that my wife had. Since switching to the shipping labels, I just don't use much anymore.
  16. We are presently out on the road with our motor home. First trip in a 17 year old rig. Anyway to my point, second night out our water heater quit. I got on the IRV2 forum and posed my problem. I got a ton of help but still had to visit a repair facility. Once repaired, I got back on and explained what had been done to get us back on the road. Everybody thanked me and said they would add the info to their notes. I only wish everybody would do the same. This is by far the best scroll saw forum and folks don't know what they are missing if they just "stop n go".
  17. They should offer plans on disc. I've suggested more than once. Their answer, "we don't have that capability". They are either lying or living in the dark ages.
  18. Les, I googled cat tail hanger hooks and a lot of choices came up.
  19. Folks need to tell the rest of the story once they solve their problem.
  20. I'd offer based on one saw or both. For both, I'd do as Paul suggested. How much do you want it/them. I think I'd go $600 for the Seyco and $100 more for the EX. I'm sure she just wants them gone.
  21. Les, I have had good luck wetting the cupped side, turn it over and clamp to my bench overnight. I hope that works for you.
  22. I bought my Hawk 226 Ultra in like new condition for $250. Hawks are very plentiful in So Cal area. Most are under $400.
  23. Thanks, that was neat!
  24. Glad it helped. I had the same problem and someone here on The Village set me straight.
