  1. Pictures. Need pictures. We all need to see your dust sucker thingee!
  2. It does have it's perks. I've often wondered.
  3. I just ran across this picture that I had saved on my computer. It might clear up the whole angled cut thing.
  4. Well, living where I do, I can pretty much do whatever, whenever. I've got a small heater in my shop and I just installed an a/c unit through the back wall for when it gets hot. We live in a very moderate climate. Right now, it looks like rain but the rest of the state is in the 90's and 100's. The only thing that stops me from getting things done is me. I'm basically lazy when it comes to stuff that I don't feel like doing. Like painting. We've been putting that off for a couple of years now.
  5. It would be helpful if the OP would give us more info and answer the questions asked so far. Too many people duck in long enough to post a question and then disappear. I, for one, would like to know the outcomes of these dilemmas. Once again, we have no idea where this person is located. That info is useful.
  6. Thanks Frank. I was just sort of "confused" over the question. Still not sure what difference it makes. But, that's just me.
  7. Sorry but I have no idea what you are asking.
  8. Are you living where 220 is the norm? If not can you get 110 a.c. parts for it?
  9. Most saws have tables that will tilt one way or the other. Some both. The Ex saws tilt the head instead of the tables. I like to cut clockwise so I tilt the head whatever way will allow me to do that. But, with that said, I am still able to cut counter-clockwise. Just not as well. I'm also somewhat ambidextrous in some things. I bat and play golf right-handed. Bowling, left-handed. I know, I'm a screwball.
  10. I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was! I heard that somewhere.
  11. If I'm not mistaken, the Jet saws come out of the same factory as the Excaliburs, Excelciors, and the other clones. I'll bet something will work.
  12. Not if you want to make a bowl.
  13. If you ever try to cut a bowl and have to cut at an angle, you'll quickly find out what the difference is. Think about it for a while and you'll see what I mean.
  14. I'm just the opposite but I'm also left handed so that may explain it. I like the fact that both of my Excalibur saws have the tilting head so I can always cut clockwise even when I'm doing an angled cut.
  15. The biggest, heaviest tool I still have is my bandsaw. I'm going to move it one more time to just outside my shop and about 6 inches lower to the ground. My shop is on 4x4's. I'm going to build a cupboard outside the shop to store my portable table saw, bandsaw, and portable miter saw in so that they will be down on the pavement and not have to work around them. I'm shopping right now for the best deal I can find on a vinyl fence to close in my driveway. Once that's done, I'm going to build an outfeed table/work table to do my building on. I have all these big dreams but time is closing in on me. Oh well, the next owner will have a nice shop. I hope they appreciate it.
  16. Not sure if they ship overseas or not but give eReplacementparts.com a try. They seem to have parts for most tools.
  17. It will make a huge difference if you start cutting anything angled. It makes the difference how what you are inlaying will either drop down into the layer below or rise up to the layer above. Hard to explain.
  18. It's really not much to look at but here are a couple of pics of it upside down. The first two just show how I constructed it. Like I said, not pretty. But the 3rd pic shows how it looks in place on the vac. It is aimed toward the rear of the saw and what noise does still emit, goes away from me. It's really very quiet. And I don't think there is enough restriction to harm the vac. I just added a pic showing looking down from above but before I added the muffler. You can see how it shoots toward the rear where the little cyclone is mounted.
  19. Geez guys, I'm 78. Sounds like there's not much to look forward to. Maybe I better sell everything while I can still move it. Lol!
  20. Very nice. I'm sure it will be appreciated.
  21. I'm not really sure of what you are having problems with but I will say this....I've tried a lot of different blades and different sizes of the same blades. I have more or less homed in on the Pegas #5 mgt and use it for everything. I don't do puzzles but if I did, I'd probably have to use a smaller blade. I try to cut to the line as much as possible. I also try to keep the pattern lines as thin as possible so all I have to do is follow the line and not worry about splitting it. I don't use the highest speed either. I, depending on the pattern, use the slowest speed up to about mid-range on both of my EX saws. I just acquired a Hegner so I am still getting to know it.
  22. That little saw looks handy, for sure. How's the accuracy? How old is it? Model number? I might start the search for one.
  23. Ben, if you get another saw, will you stop going downstairs to your shop? I ask the question for this reason. Why not just bring one of those saws upstairs? I get the feeling that your days downstairs may be ending so having the Ex upstairs would be better than having some lightweight, noisy vibrating saw.
  24. I understand your limitations but I don't think I would buy any of the lower priced saws. But with that said, if I was going to I think I'd look at the Wen. They have some decent entry level tools and if you aren't happy H/D will take it back. The other thing is make sure whatever you buy accepts 5" pinless blades and tool less blade changing.
