Welcome to the Village. I personally can't offer any first-hand information. But it has been my experience so far that there is an owner's manual/guide for everything on the internet. I'd be surprised that there isn't one for your saw. From your pics it appears that you have a flip lever to release tension for blade changes but there should be a knob at the rear of the saw for applying/adjusting the tension. I'll see if I can find a manual and if I can I'll post the link. Best of luck with your new hobby. -
That 625 lb pallet looks like a good way to go. You get some wood to cut too. Lol.

One more question....what type of rags are good for staining? I need to get something as I don't have any tee shirts to plunder.

Where do you folks buy tack rags? I bought something called tack cloth at H/D and it is so sticky you can't wipe anything with it. It just drags and won't move. Any suggestions?

Thanks Bill. Always nice to hear someone's real-life experience. If anything, I have learned that if I'm going to do any cutting on hard wood, take the time to apply the packing tape.

That looks like a pretty nice saw. I have a couple of Wen products and so far, I'm very happy with them. I did have a problem with my Wen air cleaner. It has a remote control and every once in a while, it would turn itself on and run while I was out of the shop. For God knows how long. Anyway, I contacted their customer service and they sent me a new board and remote for it. No questions asked. Except for proof of purchase. Their customer service is as good or better than any I've come across for the last few years. Let us all know how you like it.

What you might try is if you mount it on a mobile base, roll it onto a piece anti-fatique mat. It'll settle into the mat and should resolve any vibration. That's how my saws are all sitting but without that type of mobile base. I only have wheels on one end, the back end, and they are 7 inch wheels. I have i corporated PVC on both sides as my "wheel barrow" lifts to move my saws around. They are both on homemade stands of 2x4's.

Don, I've been trying to help a fellow on Facebook. He is doing compound cutting in maple and purpleheart, making a chess set. I told him to use a #5 skip tooth or superskip tooth blade. Can you advise on what I told him? I'd hate to lead him astray. Since you mentioned exactly what he is doing I thought I'd ask. Thanks for your help.

Not a matter of left handed or right handed. It's a matter of which eye is dominant. I am left eyed.

Do you sit directly behind your saw or to the right side? I find that I can't sit directly behind my saws. I'm left eye dominant and find that I need to sit so that my left eye is in line with the saw blade. I have two of the foot switches from Harbor Freight but just bought one of the Wen switches on Amazon for $14 dollars. It's just like the ones that come from Hegner. Once you get it figured out, I'd like to see what you come up with. I don't have any factory stands for my Excaliburs and just lay the foot switch on the floor. But the Hegner is on the tall stand and so far, I've just sat on a tall stool and have the switch on the floor also. I'm looking for a way to affix the switch to the saw stand.

I guess it's too late to tell you that Steve Good has a great video on setting up your new Seyco saw. Especially assembling the stand correctly. Oh, and congrats on your new saw. I know you will love it.

I've heard that there might be differences in the small bearings and sleeves too. I'm just not sure. I had asked Bob Duncan when he was still with Pegas but never did get a definitive answer. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'd never buy a new one of those either but with all the used saws out there you don't have to. I just bought a used 18" Hegner for $230 and spent another $135 fixing it up and adding a QuickClamp. I've now got a $1500 saw for under $400. Just be patient and shop around.

Barb & I are coffeeholics. We buy both regular & decaf at Costco in 3lb cans. One end of the can has a pull-off thing for opening but I flip the can over and use a can opener. We put a plastic lid on both ends of the can to keep the can from scratching the counter when it is slid across the Corian. Anyway, to my point, I opened one can with the pull-off just to have a can with one end crimped and then did what you did with the 1/8" plywood.

Cheap & easy wins the day. When you get that little cyclone you can mount it in a 3 lb. coffee can or look on Amazon for the flip top canisters. I used the small one, Les used the bigger one. I'm going to try the coffee can on my Hegner but if it doesn't work out I'll get one like Les's. As long as it catches the dust and is easy to empty is all that matters.

No matter what method I use, be it the shelf liner, blue tape or the peel & stick shipping labels, when I'm done cutting, I just use a heat gun and the patterns come right off. I very seldom remember to sand before attaching the patterns so I will have to start doing that. If I could just figure out a way to jog my memory that is.

Well, thanks for the clarification as I had NEVER seen anybody do a "paint by numbers" that came out looking as professional as that. Now I can rest easier.
