    Thanks but I 'm going to capture the dust instead of blowing it anywhere. If I was to blow it I'd buy an aquarium pump and some LocLine for sure. I'm building a system for dust capture using an Oreck carry around vac and PVC with LocLine for aiming. So far, I'm liking the saw a lot. The one thing I'm still not sure about is the tall stand. My other 2 saws I built a sit down stand for them. I hate to cut up the factory stand so I might just build another stand like the others. Either way, I like the saw and will probably be selling one of my Ex's. Oh, and I did find that a CV joint boot works great for a bellows and would probably last a lot longer. Rubber rather that plastic.

    Jim, I know what you meant but I think the correct word would be "circulates" the dust rather than collect it. As you so aptly put it "different strokes".

    I've not seen the Dewalt version. I personally bought the Dust Deputy and it came with 2 5 gallon buckets and a set of wheels that I've yet to use. I only used the one bucket but when I bought the Dustopper from H/D I used the second bucket for it. I've got way too many vacuums in my shop but they all have their purpose.

    I knew this would happen and I'm sure Oneida is not happy. This looks like a good price and probably is pretty good quality. China is eating our lunch.

    I love mine too especially since I only have under $400 in it. And once I sell my Ex16, I'll be in it zero.

    Anything from Hegner is expensive. If you ordered an empty box, it would still cost you a ton plus the shipping.

    I have only purchased a couple of cans of Deft from my local Ace store but when I went there a couple of weeks ago, they didn't have one single can on the shelf. I'm hoping it's just a sign of the times and it will re-appear.

    Thanks Bill, I have experienced just that using spray shellac but had no idea of what it was called. It did go away overnight and I was quite happy that it did. I thought I had totally screwed up my project.

    I have 2 green Ex's and both of their tables have very little wear. A few scratches but not worn the way I've seen some. I truly think the underside of the wood picks up some grit when the top is being sanded so maybe both sides need to be sanded. And wiped well with a tack cloth.

    It looks like you must have had some grit on the underside of your wood. The only explanation I can think of. The wood didn't cause that.

    Sorry. The Hegner is a sweet saw. I still love my Excaliburs but the Hegner is such a small footprint that if I sell the 16" Ex I'll gain some space. I hate to let go of it but I can't keep all 3.

    Kevin, you've stated that you run your saws full speed. That might be part of your burn problem. No need for a variable speed saw if you've got your foot to the floor all the time. Maybe slow it down some?

    It might be interesting to know why the scroll saw mfgrs can't use a sewing machine motor. Are they that much more expensive or is there another reason? They obviously have enough power.

    I wanted a quick project to try out my Hegner so I whipped this out. From a Steve Good pattern. I asked him to include a palm tree for me to fit our "beach" decor. Sadly, the brand of tissue that Barb uses is an oddball size box. Who knew? Puffs is about 1/8" bigger in one direction. I'm still lacking in knowledge of staining. I wanted it darker. Oh well...maybe next time it will fit and be the right color.

    I see you live in Kansas. We have a few members from Kansas but if you could connect with Scrollsaw703 (Brad) he is a master scroller specializing in Native American art. He uses a Hawk saw and is very knowledgeable. My sage words of advice will include to watch the Craigslist & Marketplace ads for a used saw. As for which one, the list that I would look at would include Dewalt 788, Delta (the Dewalt clone), certain Excalibur's, certain Hawks, Seyco, Jet (?), and Hegner. There are things to know about each of these saws that require you asking us about if you find one that you are interested in. In my case, I have not bought any new saws but I have 3 of the best saws ever made with a very small investment. I'm a "wheeler-dealer". I love to buy & sell. You have come to the right place for advice & information because we have members from all walks of life and from all over the world. Virtually every brand & model of saw is being used by someone on this forum so you will get your questions answered and in a timely manner. Best of luck.

    That's true but the mechanicals have to be miniaturized also. More trouble than I want to deal with.

    Well, thanks everybody. But, after review, I see that thing is 24" and I don't have that big of shop so it's off the table.
