  1. I had a type 1 as the motor tag stated. I used to stick used blades to the motor housing.
  2. Actually, with the high tension I have them under, they stay together. It remains to be seen how they wear. Will either one lose its tensil strength faster or will they wear at the same rate. I'll run the saw a bit slower to reduce the heat. A bit of experimentation should give me some idea. I get the impression that this is a new idea. Maybe one of the blade mfgrs will try making a thicker blade with finer teeth for those "wide kerf" situations. Scrolling is fun!
  3. I have no experience with spirals but I've heard they leave ragged edges. That would go against what I'm trying to achieve. I guess I could try a #7 or bigger but I want the clean smooth cut of the 5's.
  4. I'm going to cut another one of the spiral bowls that I made a while back but this time I want to cut a wider kerf that the last one but I don't want to use a larger blade as it will give me a rougher cut. So, I dreamed up something that I tried and it seems to work but I thought I'd ask the question, so here goes. I'm going to try putting two brand new blades, Pegas #5 mgt, side by side so as to get the wider kerf but still have the nice smooth finish. I did try it in a piece of scrap wood and it seems to work. Anybody ever tried this and if so, any negative experience? I'm using a lot of tension so as to keep the blades tight together. This pattern was originally designed to be cut on a laser cutter.
  5. You'll note that I said Costco. Regular stations are $1.00 or more higher.
  6. Where I live, it seems like nothing ever goes down except the sun. I did go to Costco yesterday to gas up the car and the price of regular had gone down $.15 a gallon from 2 weeks ago. Still at $3.74/9 though. About a dollar higher than anyplace else. I'll be surprised if wood/lumber goes down significantly. We can sit and watch all the freighters sitting out in the harbor waiting to be off-loaded. It seems like they never move.
  7. Try Qtena.com. That's where I bought mine. If I recall, at the time, they had the best price but who knows now?
  8. I see it just fine.
  9. I like it! Great pattern & great job.
  10. I'd think it would be the same on two sides with a center line down the middle. Should be as easy as finding a picture of the stool you have in mind. Not a tough one at all.
  11. It shouldn't be hard to draw up a pattern.
  12. If it's in really good condition and runs quiet, $300 might still be ok but I'd stiil offer $175 and see where it goes. I just bought a Hegner for $40. You just never know.
  13. I sold my type 1 all rebuilt with Jim Dandy lift and custom built bench for $325 as an example.
  14. I don't own any spirals. I'll have to get some. Thanks.
  15. I don't have the ability or the equipment to do any real spraying. Rattle cans and maybe the cheap air brush kit from H/F will have to suffice. All of our homes here are on antiquted power systems. 50 amp per home max. So, no big conpressor for me.
  16. No, I couldn't get them to go where I was trying to guide them to. I switched back to the modified geo blades and solved the problem. I'm still trying to figure out all the different types of blades much less the brand. I have never used anything but the #5 mg from Pegas and they work great. But the project that I'm working on demanded a smaller blade so I decided to try the #3 super skips that I just bought. I really bought them for doing 3-D stuff. I'm going to order some #1's and 2\0's. I only have 2/0's in a plain cut blade for doing marquetry. I bought them from a jewelry making place that was recommended by the teacher of the class I took. I bought 2 gross of them and haven't even unwrapped them yet. I'm making tissue box covers and I got an order for one with the hummingbirds on it. That has proven to be a real challenge for me. So far, I've cut the 4 sides 3 times and I'm still not happy with the look but they are going to have to suffice for now. The veining, to me, doesn't show enough with the #1 blades. I think it should be been done with a larger blade. But, when I tried it on the first set, it broke a couple of the tail feathers. But I think I know why now. So, the next time, I'll change how I do it.
  17. Paul, I tried them on my current project and didn't really like them. But I was using one of my Ex's. Maybe on the Hegner they might work better for me.
  18. Where do you find something like that? Never mind, I found it on Amazon. I have one coming.
  19. Your mastery of finishing is my downfall. I hope someday my skills in that area can equal yours.
  20. Beautiful job Kevin!
  21. Yes, since I sold tools for 40 years I became very familiar with adapting all the different air line connections. I stocked all that stuff. My source is still there but I don't need dozens of each size so I will have to hunt down some of my old cohorts who are still in the business.
  22. Isn't it fun and interesting to watch some topics morph & change? I love it. That's why you must read every entry from start to finish. What fun!
  23. A trip to the plumbing dept at H/D.
  24. Get well my friend. Solid food ASAP!.
  25. What exactly are you talking about with Pledge? Is it something other than the spray can Pledge that my wife has all over the house?
