  1. It happens to me quite often. I even have a tee shirt with my booking number and the saying "repeat offender" on it.
  2. Joe, when asked how much I would charge for making this, the lady who is buying it didn't flinch at $50. My materials are almost nada but my time is worth something. I enjoy doing this stuff so it's a hobby and my time really doesn't matter but if I'm going to make things to order, I have to take that into consideration. I make a lot of stuff for gifts at no charge at all.
  3. Here are a couple of pics of the bowl are the forming process. Tomorrow I'll glue the 12 "clips" in place to stabilze the arms. Then it's just a matter of the final sanding and finishing. This one is sold for $50. What is the general consensus of price?
  4. Iggy, I tried to join your new group but I'm in FB jail and have 5 more days before I can do anything more than just read. I found out they don't like it when you make a negative comment about our leader.
  5. Welcome to the Village Old Sarge. You definitely have an oldie there but it's a great old saw. As others have stated, we'd all love to see some of your projects and we ALL love pics. If you don't show us a picture we will never believe you. Enjoy all the reading here. I've been here since 2014 or so and have gone clear back to the beginning of time and read all the way forward. Lots a folks have come and gone. We welcome newcomers and love to hear all the war stories. This place is loaded with knowledge and we will gladly accept any and all hints that you may have to offer. Sit back, and enjoy.
  6. My wife insists on ironing all my shirts. Including tee shirts. She irons our pillow cases. She says it relaxes her to iron and listen to the talk shows on radio. Political stuff though.
  7. We can walk about a mile down to what is called "The Wetlands" and have a view of Catalina Island and the Long Beach Harbor area. The cargo ships are lined up as far as the eye can see waiting to get into port for offloading. Just about everything we all are waiting for to fill the shelves in our stores is sitting on those ships. Hopefully those boxes of wood are out there.
  8. I just checked all 5 stores near me and none of them have any and won't even accept my email address to notify me when it comes in. Probably gone forever now.
  9. I have both Excalibur 21/Pegas and a Hegner Multimax 18. Not counting the stand, the Hegner weighs a lot less than the Ex.
  10. Ok, some of you folks wanted to know how it worked out. I used 3 sets of 2 FD-UR #5 and I did my cutting on my Ex 21 at about 1/3 speed. I achieved exactly what I hoped for. A wide kerf with a smooth finish. Very little sanding required. Pic attached.
  11. Thanks to all!
  12. Frank, what do you nean by "project panels"? Are you referring to their hobby wood or have I overlooked something? What dimensions do they come in?
  13. My Brother all-in-one color laser printer sits in the same spot all of my other prior printers sat in. Granted, it is a bit bigger but not enough to make a difference. It is taller which makes it look bigger but it's an illusion. I'll never go back to an inkjet-style printer. Too many of them disappointed me just at the time they were most needed. This laser printer has never done that. It has lost connectivity a couple of times but I blame that on our crappy power grid in our park. It is antiquated and needs updating badly.
  14. Do you recall that Les took an empty black cartridge and filled it with red toner? He said it worked. So if a red line is important, give it a try.
  15. I sure hope you aren't tossing your toner cartridges just because you get a warning. I'm still using the starter black cartridge that my printer came with. I bought one to have on hand. I've never opened the box.
  16. I have one for sale.
  17. You neglected to tell us what its purpose is. Is from truing up the thumbscrew ends? I've not had to do that yet.
  18. I understand how you feel but I disagree in this situation. This person asked for help but offered no details. We all tried to get to the crux of his plight but got no additional input until near the end of the conversation when he thanked us and made his exit. I'm sorry but that's not how it should be done. He was on the sidelines at least up to that point. Why not answer us when we were trying to help?
  19. Thanks Charlie. After looking at all those pics and seeing it from different angles, I realized that we have been there. When we visited our dear friends in Dandridge Tn. they were kind enough to take us on an excursion into the National Park of the Smokies and I recall going to the store and wandering through and around the mill. It truly is this beautiful. Ooops! After reading more about this mill it appears that I'm wrong. This one is in Va. But.....we did visit one just like it in Tn. Can't have too many mills.
  20. You are now a bona fied "senior citizen".
  21. It sure does. Every woodworker's dream setting. His own mill.
  22. Exactly! Why bother to ask if you are aren't going to be involved in the process?
  23. Wait a minute, we still don't know what you are looking for. How about an explanation?
  24. You might want to try a skip or super skip tooth blade to clear the dust from the kerf. I used the #5 mgt blades on 1 1/2" mahogany but after the fact I was advised this.
  25. That's true but then I lose the smooth finish. I don't want that. Thanks.
