I've got a Chinese made Delta 28-206 band saw. Not a bad saw considering where it was made. My question is, have any of you folks upgraded your band saws to the Carter blade guides and if so, what is your overall impression? Are they truly worth the money? I didn't pay too much more for the saw than what those guides cost. My saw seems to track pretty well now but I want to do some resawing and was wondering just how much better they would make my saw. Also, I was looking at the Carter blade stabilizer for the smaller blades so do more of the scrolling type of cuts. Just pondering here but would really like the feedback from those of you who made the investment.

That's exactly why I don't loan tools. I have loaned things in the past and take the time to make a note of who borrowed it, when and then have them sign for it. Never lost anything yet. When I was running the tool truck, I had a neighbor ask to borrow a $200 timing light. He got all pissed off when I told him no. Too bad. I never liked him anyhow.

I've had that on my computer but somehow it got deleted. Thanx for reminding me. I really like that H/F saw and it had all great reviews. 4xs & 5s. He guy in the video bought a brand new Ridgid stand for his. I have the Dewalt stand that my table saw is on so I might swap it with the miter saw and build a cabinet for my job saw. That way I can incorporate an outfeed table into it. I'm enclosing my driveway so I can leave my bigger stuff outside with tarps.

You know Kevin, I know you have a ton of money but I'd give this saw a look and watch the video. For $220 without a coupon, this saw looks great. I think I might just have to have one. Wow! Some of you crafters amaze me. I'll never post another project. I'm in awe of stuff like this. It's absolutely gorgeous. I can only dream of making something this beautiful.

I've got a 12" Dewalt compound miter saw and it is just too big and heavy. What I would like to replace it with is a 10" sliding miter saw. I know they are big and heavy too but at least if I was to set it up and leave it up, it would be there for quick cuts that I'm doing on my bandsaw now. I'm limited to that 14" capacity on it. I've looked at the 10" saw at H/F but would really like something of a better quality. Anyway, to my point, give the sliding feature a good look at before buying anything. It might be the answer to your problems.

Thanks Frank. You are as short on space as I am. My shop is 9 x 13. I have a small entry door so that gives me one more wall than you. I take my Dewalt saw out on my driveway to use it. No room in the shop for it. I have a 14" bandsaw, 2 scroll saws, a stack tool box, an 8 foot long work bench, a Fein/DustDeputy, and a ton of hand held power tools up on a shelf. I bought a ton of woodworking quick clamps from a guy whose Dad passed away. I should never need another clamp of that type. I would like to buy a couple of 24" Bessey bar clamps though. They are nice for glue-ups. I bought 4 of the 4 foot LED shop lights when H/F had them on sale for $20 ea. They are so bright I have to turn them off if I want to look up at anything on the shelves above them. Anyway, we are both using our small area to the best of our abilities.

I think you just gave me some idea of why we haven't moved to Florida yet. As much as I hate the whole political atmosphere here in California, I'll just live with it for the weather we have. I get cold when the temp drops below 60 and too warm anything over 78. And the humidity is livable. If I want to wear long pants and a warm shirt I can work out in my shop all winter and I just installed a window a/c for the summer.

You did better than me. I have an EX16 and 21 with a total of $550 invested and about 4 hours of driving time.

Yeah, no problem there. The tough part is "flattening them out".

Unfortunately, I only drink from long necks. But, there are many cans lying about.

I think it is by far the best mid-range priced saw. And for many folks, it will serve them well for their entire scrolling years. With maintenance!

Thanks Dick. I had not seen this one before and I learned something from it. I was under the mistaken impression that it was the tension rod that was striking the cover. I didn't didn't know it was the upper arm. So, with that said, I must take back my previous instruction regarding the rod. This video gave a very good example of how much and where to remove material from the cover. I didn't have to remove that much from mine. Just goes to prove the old saying that you're never too old to learn something.
